Khaled Hosseini, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations.

What did you like best about And the Mountains Echoed? What did you like least?

I liked the parallel stories that ran thoughout the book, but I thought they could have been tied together better at the end. Some were still left hanging.

How could the performance have been better?

In general I did not care for the three narrators of the book, but the female was by far the worst. Please give me narrators who can enunciate. It was difficult to listen to. It sounded as though she were drunk and slurring her words during most of her reading.

Do you think And the Mountains Echoed needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    No thanks.

    Any additional comments?

I almost returned the book, but I liked his other two books well enough I wanted to see where this would go. The narration was just horrible though.

Running with Scissors is the true story of a boy whose mother (a poet with delusions of being Anne Sexton) gave him away to be raised by her psychiatrist, a dead ringer for Santa and a lunatic in the bargain.

What did you love best about Running with Scissors?

I was glued to it, so I must have loved it. But what a crazy book with absolutely crazy characters. Seriously, the Psychiatrist made his daughter scoop his poo out of the toilet to dry on the picnic table to dry in the sun?

What other book might you compare Running with Scissors to and why?

The Hotel New Hampshire ... just based on nuttiness.

Have you listened to any of Augusten Burroughs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I do plan to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. This book was fascinatingly crazy.

Easter. Adorable ... head to toe.

Extreme? No, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. I might have had a tear in my eye a few times. But weeping, no. Laughing? Probably yes a few times. It is just an overall wonderful book that will make you think and hope for the outcome you want.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the characters, how they were developed, and how they grew together.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I really enjoyed the book until the very ending. I felt like it just left you hanging. I mean that was it? One more paragraph that gave me some closure, and I would have more than loved the book.

Where does Truth in Advertising rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a great book. I just stumbled onto it, and I would read it again.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the story developed. I liked his compulsion to do the right thing with his father's ashes.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Robert Petkoff?

Only if the character were supposed to be an older person. He has an older person's voice. It did not match the character.

Who was the most memorable character of Truth in Advertising and why?

His relationship with the Japanese son of his company's owner (whose name escapes me right at the moment). I should do these reviews immediately after the read. :)

Would you consider the audio edition of Six Years to be better than the print version?

Odd question, but possibly. I thought it was performed well and played out like a movie in my head.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I went through the book very quickly because I didn't want to put it down. The plot thickened constantly and just as I thought I had it figured out, I learned quickly I didn't.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I have not.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

An extreme reaction? Nope. It was just entertaining read.

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.
