Néomi Laress, a famous ballerina from a past century, became a phantom the night she was murdered. Imbued with otherworldly powers but invisible to the living, she haunts her beloved home, scaring away trespassers - until she encounters a ruthless immortal even more terrifying than Néomi herself.

Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Needs at Night's Edge to be better than the print version?

I don't know, i rarely have time to sit and read. I can say that without Robert Petkoff's naration i do not think i would enjoy these books as much as i do.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

He is the best narrator ever!! I adore all of his performances and i always look for books he has narrated. His ability to do different accents is amazing. He is also quick with the dialoge scenes and can switch up the accents so that i am always certain of who in the story is talking. I can't say enough about his brilliant performance narration! He is awesome!!!

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoy all the Kresley Cole books. They are kind of my guilty pleasure and the second that Audible gets another release i buy it and listen to it straight through, usually only takes me a couple days tops. I rarely do that with the other titles i get. So i guess that means i like her and this narrator a lot. The story usually moves along nicely and there is always at least one or two really good sex scenes. Plus the world of the Lore is fun and interesting and different! GREAT Author with a fabulous immagination! THANKS! :]

In this compilation of three novellas, we first meet Jacob and Allison and travel through a harrowing year of revelations. Their fierce passions that bring them together in a torrid moment in time, and then the separation that almost kills them. They are reunited in Alaska and must now face uncharted territory as their dormant lycanthropic blood is awakened. They've been welcomed into a burgeoning family with similar genetics and as the next full moon approaches they prepare for dramatic, and life altering events to unfold.

I do love a Sexy Scotsman! Jacob's accent renders foreplay unnecessary! I also love this author and her unique, totally different take on traditional romance novels. Her characters are memorable and charismatic. Wonderfully written character development that stays true to each individual. Payne also writes the best sex scenes that are ALWAYS a turn on. Also many really funny moments that made me laugh out loud. One very sad moment that also made me tear up, (that never happens!).Payne Hawthorne is now a one-click for me along with Kresley Cole, LKH, Jeannine Frost among others. Can't wait for the next installment. Joshua Story did a good job on the narration and use of different accents although I think his delivery could be smoother, (I however am an audio file and pretty much ONLY listen to books--never read).

We first met Jacob and Allison in Alpha Awakened and traveled through a harrowing year of revelations. Their fierce passions that brought them together in a torrid moment in time, and then the separation that left Jacob on the brink of insanity and Allison in a spell like trance the doctors called a coma. I really like authors like Kresley Cole and Laurel K. Hamilton. I love Shifter stories period, and this one was so unique I was enthralled! Totally different POV than one would usually read. Lots of hot-hot-hot sex scenes! OMG! So erotic! But also not gross... I don't know how she does it.

I love this family and I love how the author writes it so I feel I am living there with them! I have read all three but couldn't wait to listen since I am more a listener than a reader.

The narrator did a great job with the accents although there were places that felt awkward to me. Not sure if that was the writing style or the narration. Sometimes with narrators it stems from a place of them not being readers--delivery is everything! I am kinda spoiled because I am such a huge fan of Kresley Cole/Robert Petkoff and the immortals after dark series. I will still give him 5 stars because I freakin adore a book with accents and this kind of performance.

Can't wait for more from this new author/narrator combo.

In this third installment, Lumen is our focus. She is a lycanthropic wolf, shifted to human. Her perceptions are that of a wolf, and her psyche is absent of all human morals or civility. As we follow her development and integration with the rest of the Alpha Pack, we find out more about the ancient curse inflicted upon all shape shifters. With the lifting of the curse follows a multitude of ramifications, including the apparent mated status between Mathew and the now human-looking, wolf-acting, Lumen.

I love this series! I've read it already, but listening was even more fun. The narrator did a fab job and I loved his use of accents!

I have dogs so most of the behaviors depicted were right on from my perspective. I laughed out loud numerous times. I also got super turned on from the expertly written sex scenes.

I am really enjoying this new author/narrator combo. I've witnessed Payne's increased abilities as a writer and I can only think she will continue to get better and better. She is now a one-click for me. My only other one-click buys are Kresely Cole/Robert Petkoff, So way to go to this new unknown, (as of yet), author and narrator.

Would you consider the audio edition of Alpha Awakened to be better than the print version?

I think I liked it even better with the various voices and accents. The narrator did a stellar job with the main characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alpha Awakened?

The first encounter on the plane... and when Jacob said, "Tae meeting each other." Sigh

What does Joshua Story bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He did awesome with the different accents and voices. Stellar job especially with the scots accent and Jacob. grrrrrr. Sexy characters even through his narration which is tuff to accomplish when you narrate this kind of romantic fiction mixed with erotica. High marks to him for accomplishing it!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole story was moving. I didn't like how short it was, but the author says part two will be out soon. The entire story moved along quickly with just the right amount of tension mixed with erotic moments.

    Any additional comments?

I really like this new author and have been following her on Kindle. She's improved dramatically in her story execution, but her stories are always the most unique I've ever read. Her point of view is totally different from any others in this genre, which I can totally appreciate. She is never formula romance, thankfully! I also find myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions when I am reading her often funny take on things.

I highly suggest Payne Hawthorne's works as great, fun, sexy entertainment. Guaranteed to arouse as well keep you wondering what's to come next.

What did you like best about this story?

I really like to get to know the characters and Kresley Cole is the best at character developement! I fell in love with Evie and Jack!!

Which character – as performed by Emma Galvin and Keith Nobbs – was your favorite?

Evie was performed brilliantly!! Jack was quite good too .... They were all done well and i could tell who was talking and distinguish their characters perfectly!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

at the end... i know she needed to leave us hanging... but i don't like how it went down with Jack and Evie...

    Any additional comments?

I am quite fond of Kresley Cole as an author and am addicted to her adult series which is narrated by Robert Petkoff.... (can't go wrong there!) ... I do listen to some YA books and this one was very good for the genre. I do prefer a bit more adult situations... but she managed to get in some real teenage angst and some discovery as well... which is nice... i like to have the characters evolve during a story... which they all did!!

I will definitly purchase the second installment in this series when it becomes available!!

Would you listen to The Scottish Prisoner again? Why?

Yes, i will. The writing in her books is so rich and complex!! i know i miss allot and am just about to go back and re-listen to the entire Outlander series again. Last time i did this it took me a year to get through all of them. But that is a GOOD thing!! i adore being in that world with Jamie and Clare. I am head over heels in love with Jamie though!! I liked it that this book was exclusively about him!

What does Jeff Woodman and Rick Holmes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Narration was great! I can't get enough of the Scots brogue and both narrators did supberb jobs of creating the characters as individual and distinct!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I always have viceral reactions to any DG book!! She has a way of writing that transcends words and goes straight to my heart. I have no idea how she does it but she is a fabulous author!!

    Any additional comments?

It was thrilling to get a small peak into Jamie's time at Hellwater. I was sad when it ended. i wanted more of him and Willie especially. His character is so rich and developed that i think of him as an entirely REAL PERSON!!! He is someone that is now in my heart as if a relative or friend. I will always recommend ANY book that GB has written or participated in. She is the master!! Always worth the purchase and always memorable, entertaining and REAL! I also always learn something about history or the way humanity thought or felt. What can i say? This author is my hands down favorite of all time!
