Definitely! The voices in your head just can't compare to what Angela Dawe comes up with.
Malcolm because he is so unapologetic for being from the social class he is from. He realizes that it is important but not all encompassing when he falls for a woman with a lot of financial power. It's nice to see a character who isn't afraid to admit he didn't come from a lot of money.
I've only heard her on this series, but I think she has gotten better as these books have been published.
Money is no problem.
As the second book in this series, we get to see Beka more as she is as a person and as she is without so many people watching over her. There are trials and tribulations sure, but she manages quite well without much help from others. This is also one of the first times we see Beka in a romantic way and being a typical teenage girl. It's really amusing to see her navigate romance while in the middle of a tricky hunt. As per usual with Tamora Pierce, we see Beka develop more into a strong, confident woman and beat the bad guys at their own game.
Fun, flirty, sassy
Seeing two people who have been friends a long time finally realize that they were meant to be together. The quote that once you find that person, you'll realize why it never worked out with anyone else...that is this book to a T.
When Laurel jumps out of the car to go sleep with Del on the 4th of July. It's just so memorable.
It's always right in front of you.
This was actually one of my first audiobooks and it still ranks high among the books I've listened to so far.
I love the commraderie among the women in the story and how their social group formed. In each story we learn a little more about them and how they came to be where they are. I think that the history we share with our closest friends shapes who we are and that comes out in this story.
She does really great voices and it's like watching a movie with her performances.
This book is full of moments that made me laugh, cry, and hit things in frustration. Can't ask for more than that.
Yes! I loved it! Most of my girlfriends are engaged or in serious relationships and a love story about close friends, a wedding business, and love? What more could we want?!
As much as I love Mackenzie, Laurel is definitely my favorite character. In terms of personality she is most like me.
I have not heard any other Emily Durante performances.
YES! I could not get enough of it. I listened to it in the car so I didn't get to listen to it all in one sitting, but I would have loved to!
Let me start by saying I love Tamora Pierce's writings and I will continue to love them forever.
I didn't realize how much feminism was present in her writings until this anthology. Part of this might be that I'm taking a women, sport, and culture class and quite a few stories in this anthology could be included in our class materials. But really, while listening to this book, just listen. There are definite styles of feminism in these stories ranging from liberal feminism to marxist feminism and just about everything in between.
I loved seeing some of my favorite characters come back up- Numair, Kitten, Aly and Nawat. It was great to meet new characters as well and see the effects of some stories from previous books. I hope she does more anthologies like this in the future.
Overall, Wonderful. I loved it.
I was reading this book in paperback and listening to the audio version when my eyes got tired at night. What a treat it was to switch over to the audio version! We all do voices in our head, but having them really come alive in the audio version was fantastic!
The book was well narrated and the story includes everything a reader would want, and somethings you didn't know you wanted. I'm not a huge classical music buff, but I really enjoyed learning a little more about Beethoven during this book. Even though this is fictitious, I could totally see this happening. The story is full of information, intrigue, sex, drama, and murder. What more could you want?!
I really hope that the author continues to write books because I loved the story. It was kind of like the Davinci Code, but much more fun to read and listen to.
I love this story. Having read it in paperback many times and now hearing it read to me, it's a wonderful story full of everything good. It has action, drama, chivalry, and romance. I don't think anyone could not enjoy this story.
I think a lot shows about the Keladry when her people are taken and how she handles the situation. We spend a lot of the book waiting for her to finally go on her quest.
Her voices are really good. She is exciting to listen to.
When Kel meets Toby. At 18 caring for another person, not just because it's a duty but because you want things to be better for that person, is alot of what knighthood is about.
The narration put me to sleep.
Parts of the story seemed overly detailed and other parts under detailed.
His voice is so monotonous.
The story itself was interesting and to a military history buff would be both enlightening and enjoyable.
