The zombie plague unleashes its horrors on the suburbs of Atlanta without warning, pitting the living against the dead. Caught in the mass exodus, Lilly Caul struggles to survive in a series of ragtag encampments and improvised shelters. But the Walkers are multiplying. Dogged by their feral hunger for flesh and crippled by fear, Lilly relies on the protection of good Samaritans by seeking refuge in a walled-in town once known as Woodbury, Georgia. But Lilly begins to suspect that all is not as it seems....

First thought when finished: The Road to Woodbury was much better than The Rise of the Governor! Also proved that the humans are scarier than the zombies!

What I thought of the story: The Road to Woodbury was really the journey of Lily and her experience with The Governer and Woodbury. To me, this is where the story shines because you really want to know how it works out for her. When she is the focus, the story is fantastic!

What I thought of the characters: I am going to be honest, I don't think you are supposed to like or relate to any of the characters in Woodbury. They are a little less one dimensional in this 2nd installment but still not a lot of character development. Lily was a fantastically flawed character with many dimensions and you wanted to root for her!

What I thought of the audio: Narrated by Fred Berman and at a running time of 9 hrs and 56 mins, The Road to Woodbury (or actually the series) is one I would suggest you read not listen too. I just don't think the story plays as well in audio.

Final thought: I have heard that this is a trilogy so I am hoping the final book has more character development. The story was solid and entertaining though and zombie lovers should not pass it up. Though my theory that the people are way scarier than the zombies still stands!

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

First Thought when Finished: Dead Heat by Paticia Briggs was another amazing entry in the Alpha & Omega Series.

Overall Thoughts: Charles and Anna are my favorite couple (yes they beat Mercy and Adam). I like the maturity and growth of their relationship over the series. Not to beat a drum but I like that it is a grown ass relationship with bumps, communication, and compromise. The story was strong too. I liked all the twists, turns, and continuation of the world. The only thing will be the wait!

Holter is one of my favorite narrators and he really nails this series. It does take a bit to warm up to Anna's voice but by book 4 I love it :)

Overall Thoughts:Jonathan Maberry is one of those writers that I adore. He writes stories that make you scream, laugh, and cry. Even though this is a YA series, the teenagers seem to have a better world view than the adults. There is a little angst but overall this is a world where you have people to root for. I would never survive the Zombie Apocalypse.

First Thought when Finished:A Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison won't go down as one of my favorites in the series mostly because of Nick!

    Overall Thoughts:

1: Have never been a fan of Nick (though I honestly don't want her with Kist either) and so I am hoping the end marked their relationship from this point forward.
2: I still love the troubled threesome but the foreshadowing is making me pre-sad!
    3: Big Jenks = Awesome!
4: Hoping this is a turn for Ivy and she will be more open!
5: No Trent so I felt like the overall story didn't move forward.
6: Need more Ceri--she is super interesting.
7: Less Kisten (and he wasn't even in this one much)

    Audio Thoughts:

Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want? But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her "glamour" to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story - a story that has never been told - until now. Marissa Meyer spins yet another unforgettable tale about love and war, deceit and death.

First Thought when Finished: Fairest by Marissa Meyer is a story I felt needed to be told!

Overall Thoughts Did I feel bad for L after this story? Nope! Granted her back story did have me pitying her just a bit. Everything she does is for one reason only: it is what she wants! She is very self-tunneled visioned (I know not a thing but it is the best way I can describe it)

Did I like getting her history? Sure! She is an evil queen and Marissa did a great job of showing that there are layers to even the most evil of characters. Granted they may just be more layers of evil but they are layers!

Did I like the sneak peak at Winter? You BETCHA! Can't wait! Though I am going to have to do a total re-listen before the final book! That will happen closer to release time.

    Audio Thoughts:

The series is narrated by Rebecca Soler and she does a wonderful job. The only one I did not listen to in audiobook was Cress. I missed Rebecca's narration while reading. She adds layers and emotions to the wonderful words that Marissa Meyer has written. If you have not given these a whirl on audio, you should!

First Thought when Finished: Despite the hot mess that was the "investigation" (sorry there were parts I was like "really Kate" and quit calling them kids), Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews was a fantastic read/listen (I actually read most of this one because I was out and about instead of where I could listen). I LOVED how it ended and can't wait to see the next adventures. I want MORE!

LOVED: I have to add the following quotes to my quote jar (most courtesy of Desandra, Ascanio, Derek--they should have a road show)

“Quick, Derek, it's your chance to shine," Ascanio said.
Derek gave him a withering look.
"Desandra is a mother, Robert is married, Kate's affianced, and I'm an old soul. You're the closest thing to a virgin we've got. Get on with growing some flowing locks.”

Desandra shrugged her shoulders. "Hey, Kate? Have you thought of walking up to Hugh and telling him that he's got the biggest dick ever?" She spread her arms to the size of a baseball bat.
"No, you think it would work?" I asked.
"It's worth a try. May be he'll be so happy you noticed his pork sword, he'll forget all about trying to kill us."
Pork sword. Kill me now. "I'll think about it."
    Ascanio began patting his clothes.
    "What?" Derek growled.
"Looking for something to take notes with.”

“Sit your ass down, Don Juanabe," Derek said.
"Don Juanabe?" Ascanio pulled out his swords.
"Don Juan Wannabe," Derek explained. "See I shortened it. If you still don't get it, I'll write it down for you after the fight."
"You've maxed out your wit quota for the night," Ascanio said.
    "I'm just getting started."
"Be careful, you might sprain something in your brain.”

“Where are we going?” Desandra asked.
“We’re going to Blue Ribbon Stables,” I said. “It’s the closest place to rent a horse.
    “Why?” Desandra asked.
“Because I can’t keep up with you on foot,” I said.
“And she runs like a rhino.” Derek added. “You can hear her a mile away.”
Traitor. “I thought you had my back?”
“I do,” Derek said. “The rhino running is nice. Makes it easy to keep track of you. If I ever lose you, I just have to listen and there you are.”
    “Yes,” Desandra agreed. “It’s convenient.”
    I laughed.
“Are you always this casual?” Robert asked.
“Derek and I worked together for a long time,” I told him. “He’s allowed some leeway.”
    “What about Desandra?”
“She only bothers with protocol when she wants something. The rest of the time it’s lewd jokes and descriptions of plums.”
    Desandra snickered.
    Robert’s eyebrows crept up. “Plums?”
I waved my hand. “Don’t ask.”
