The zombie plague unleashes its horrors on the suburbs of Atlanta without warning, pitting the living against the dead. Caught in the mass exodus, Lilly Caul struggles to survive in a series of ragtag encampments and improvised shelters. But the Walkers are multiplying. Dogged by their feral hunger for flesh and crippled by fear, Lilly relies on the protection of good Samaritans by seeking refuge in a walled-in town once known as Woodbury, Georgia. First thought when finished: The Road to Woodbury was much better than The Rise of the Governor! Also proved that the humans are scarier than the zombies!

What I thought of the story: The Road to Woodbury was really the journey of Lily and her experience with The Governer and Woodbury. To me, this is where the story shines because you really want to know how it works out for her. When she is the focus, the story is fantastic!

What I thought of the characters: I am going to be honest, I don't think you are supposed to like or relate to any of the characters in Woodbury. They are a little less one dimensional in this 2nd installment but still not a lot of character development. Lily was a fantastically flawed character with many dimensions and you wanted to root for her!

What I thought of the audio: Narrated by Fred Berman and at a running time of 9 hrs and 56 mins, The Road to Woodbury (or actually the series) is one I would suggest you read not listen too. I just don't think the story plays as well in audio.

Final thought: I have heard that this is a trilogy so I am hoping the final book has more character development. The story was solid and entertaining though and zombie lovers should not pass it up. Though my theory that the people are way scarier than the zombies still stands!

First Thought when Finished: The Dragon Factory by Jonathan Maberry was wicked smart and brutally twisty.

Read It File It: I am in love with the Joe Ledger! There I said it. It is probably best to get that out there and acknowledged. During the Dragon Factory, I was biting my lip, clicking my nails against the desk, and closing my eyes as things got tense. These books are such intense rides and this one was a little heartbreaking. I recommend these to any one who enjoys a good mystery with a little bit of fringe!

Going to admit that it took 2 books for me to fall in love with Ray's voice for Joe but now I adore it. Sometimes it just takes a bit and then it clicks!

Final Thoughts: Bring on Book 3!

First Thoughts: The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston was a freaking hot and fun time!

Read It File It: Oh my! I blushed a lot while listening then reading The Mane Event. I should have known that I would have lived in fear that the headphones would fall out while listening. I had to switch to reading because it was just to steamy for my ears. I loved all the characters (in both stories) and felt like fist pumping when the couples got together! Just downright shifter fun!

    Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by: Charlotte Kane /Length: 12 hrs and 13 mins

I don't do well with steamy stuff on audio so this was not for me. I thought Charlotte did a pretty good job with the women's voices though. The men were a little too "soft" for me but that might have been because of the smexy. I just prefer men to do the smexy scenes.

Final Thought: I now know why people love these stories :)

Read It File It: Ever had a book that overall didn't do much for you but you know that the rest of the series is probably right up your alley? That is me with Rosemary and Rue. While I spent most of the book just waiting for something to happen, once it did I was hooked. I am going to give book 2 a whirl. I have a feeling it will be a different experience.

First Thought when Finished: Beware the exes! Night Broken by Patricia Briggs proves that even Mercy has to deal with the pesky things.

Read It File It Review: Night Broken wasn't my favorite in the series but I still listened to it pretty much in two days flat. There is something about Mercy Thompson's world that is oddly relaxing (not for the characters but me) and I can always count on some kick ass action. This time there was a pesky ex (Adam's) and a whole lot of "weird" stalker stuff going on (of the ex). Overall enjoyable!

Young, beautiful, and successful, Elena Michaels seems to have it all. Her happy, organized life follows a predictable pattern: filing stories for her job as a journalist, working out at the gym, living with her architect boyfriend, and lunching with her girlfriends from the office. And once a week, in the dead of night, she streaks through a downtown ravine, naked and furred, tearing at the throats of her animal prey. Elena Michaels is a werewolf.

    Overall Thoughts:

I listened in Audio so I am marking times not pages.

Here are my 5 main thoughts (this book has been reviewed enough that I don't feel the need to say what other people have said already):

1: Everything between Quinn/Blay (their relationship)could have been cleared up at 7hrs and 4min. Everything that happened after that until the 21hrs 3min mark was all unnecessary drama.
2: No matter how much I love this world, I still get annoyed at the gangsta speak coming out of grown men's mouths! Their mates, for the most part, talk like grown ups so I am kind of perplexed why they don't.
3: Are these books even PNR anymore? I would almost move them into the UF category but I am afraid she would drag out stories even more. In the last 3 (maybe 4) books, the side characters have had more page time than the main couple (relatively speaking).
4: Quinn needs to apologize to Saxton! I am super pissed about this.
5: Blay needed to get out of his own head 3/4 of the book. I mean relationship aside, you didn't know your best friend hadn't had sex in a year. That is on you not him. Everything about their relationship was just miscommunication and manufactured drama.

All of this aside, I am ready for The King. I am hoping for a series reboot of some sort. Something that will make me want to stick with it!

PS: I did like the epilogue and that made me want to root for them as a couple. I think they both need counseling though.

    Audio Thoughts:

Narrated by: Jim Frangione /Length: 22 hrs and 22 mins

Jim is freaking amazing! I really do enjoy his narration. Found out with this book that he even sounds good at 3x speed. Now that is saying something!!!

First Thought when Finished: Fate's Edge was exciting, fun, and made me excited/sad that the next book is the last one.

Story Thoughts: Favorite one in the series so far! The action was spot-on. The story was intriguing. The characters brought their A game. The writing was fantastic. The romance was smexy. The smexy was blush inducing. This really sealed my new found love Ilona Andrews. This was just well crafted all around.

Character Thoughts: Audrey was my favorite leading female in the series so far. She was resourceful, smart, and a good person. I love Kal from before but he really brought his leading man "swagger" in Fate's Edge. However, the main reason that I loved the characters: The Boys! Seriously if those two rascals don't at least get some kind of "where are they now" book/novella/website shout out I will be disappointed.

    Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Renée Raudman / Length: 14 hrs and 18 mins
Renee does a great job with the narration of this series. I highly recommend these on audio. She brings it every time!

Final Thoughts: I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the last one.

Quick Review: Since this is a book that will have been read and reviewed a bajillion times I am going to just jot down my quick thoughts. I thought overall this series ended as it should have but I didn't like some of the loose ends. My only hope that is some of them are addressed in the spin off series. Also if we don't get series for at least two of the characters (which will remain nameless but you know who they are) then I will be really disappointed.

First Thought when Finished: That Touch of Magic had a strong second half and really great characters. I had fun!

Story Thoughts: That Touch of Magic was slow to start but had a very strong second half. The story did a kind of zigzag that kept you wondering exactly where Lucy March was heading. I did like that I couldn't quite predict where the story was going to end up or exactly how Stacy was going to get herself out of trouble. This read a bit more like an Urban Fantasy than a PNR which was both good and bad. I thought the action side of the story was good but the romance was a little lacking to me.

Character Thoughts: I really liked Stacy. She is a different kind of leading lady. She wasn't perfect by a long shot! She had spunk but that sometimes got her into trouble. She had gumption but that sometimes got her into spots that her mouth couldn't handle. She had magic but not control of it. In other words, she was just a normal girl that got thrown some pretty freaking crazy stuff! Leo was an OK leading guy. I actually liked him but it wasn't until the very end that I felt any chemistry between the two of them. I was actually more invested in the "bad guy". I do hope he gets a redemption story.

    Audio Thoughts:

Amanda Ronconi is fantastic! I don't think I have ever been disappointed with her narration. If you get a chance to listen to her, make sure that you do!

Part 3 of the Series Review: Maybe spoilerish though not on purpose. I just want to be as specific as I can why Ignite Me didn't work for me.

First Thought when Finished: Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi was a little to heavy on the romance and "woe is me" angst for me to enjoy but I did enjoy books 1 and 2.

    Part 3 Thoughts:

I swear I have decided that it is me not Dystopian series at this point! They sale like hot cakes and the endings seems to be a favorite of most everyone but me. Which BTW is not a bad thing, I love that there are books out there for every reader! I have decided that I need adult dystopian with no triangle and the last book should be dedicated to kicking ass, changing the world, and maybe getting the one guy/gal that you have been attracted to the whole journey(or at least going out in a blaze of glory). This is the 3rd YA one that I have read and rated the last book a 2. In each of those cases it was because the characters (or character) did something so unlike how I saw their character in my mind that it made me scream. In this case, the only character that I felt stayed on target was Kenji and he wasn't a main "3" player. I felt the complete 180 of Adam's personality (which I must admit I did not read the novellas which might have changed my mind) was out of left field and didn't make much sense to me. Warner while I find intriguing and would love get one of those people from Investigation Discovery channel to sit down and analyze was another "bad boy" who wins scenario. I believe in fresh starts and second chances but there are big issues that needed to be addressed in this case. Juliette--what can I say? She is bad ass unless she is wrapped up in angst which unfortunately was most of Ignite Me! Problem: Kenji wasn't around enough to put a stop to that ridiculousness. The actual bare-bones story part of Ignite Me I thought was pretty good and the end was actually satisfying. I wish more time would have been spent on that instead of the relationship drama. I think the action and suspense could have blown me away.

    Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Kate Simses / Length: 11 hrs and 57 mins

Kate did a wonderful job. I thought she encompassed all of Juliette, Warner, and Adam. She brought to life their emotions (maybe a little too well) and nailed the pacing of each of them. Great Job overall!

Final Thoughts: If you are a fan of dystopians then I do think you should give this world a whirl. Please go read other people's reviews because there are some great ones out there. I think they are more the audience that enjoys these stories and a more accurate reflection of how most people will feel. I just had to be honest about my feelings.
