In 2006, hedge fund manager John Paulson realized something few others suspected--that the housing market and the value of subprime mortgages were grossly inflated and headed for a major fall. Paulson's background was in mergers and acquisitions, however, and he knew little about real estate or how to wager against housing. He had spent a career as an also-ran on Wall Street. But Paulson was convinced this was his chance to make his mark. He just wasn't sure how to do it....

David says: "Better Books Now Available"
    "Great Listen and Very Informative"
    Overall

Whether you are a Wall Street professional or an average reader, I think you will find this book highly entertaining and very educational. The author does a great job of developing the story, the players and explaining all the finance behind it. It's a great account of what led up to the financial crisis and how it began to unravel and also gives you a lot of perspective into Hedge Funds and Investment Banks.

This book was written in a similar fashion as "When Genius Failed" which is another good Wall Street book.

The economic and monetary disaster, which seasoned Wall Street prognosticator Peter Schiff warned of in the bestselling first edition of Crash Proof, is no longer hypothetical - it is here today. And while most people believe that the economic collapse is over, the reality is that it has only just begun. That's why he's returned with Crash Proof 2.0.

Michael says: "Eye opening look into the future of the US economy"
    "This is an Eye-Opening Book"
    Overall

The crazy thing about this book is the economic concepts seem so simple and logical yet Wall Street, Politicians and Americans never saw any of this coming (including myself).

The first half of the book does a great job of discussing "Classical Economics" and explains how the US has gotten into the economic situation we are in and what the effect will be going forward. The second part of the book is focused on investing accordingly.

Whether you are an investor or just a student of current economic policy and government I think you will find the book very powerful.

This book is the original book written in 2006 with a lengthy 2009 update at the end of each chapter. DON'T buy Crash Proof 1.0 as you will miss out on all the 2009 updates which are critical.

In 1993, Marie Gesto disappeared after walking out of a supermarket. Harry Bosch worked the case but couldn't crack it, and the 22-year-old was never found. Now, more than a decade later, with the Gesto file still on his desk, Bosch gets a call from the district attorney. A man accused of two heinous murders is willing to come clean about several others, including the killing of Marie Gesto.

Joel says: "Another excellent Connelly novel."
"Just as good as all the others"
    Overall

This is Michael Connley's newest book. I've listened to them all and enjoy the Harry Bosh character more than just about any other character I can think of. The story is compelling and has many twists and turns. I highly recommend it.
