I read Heart Block shortly after it was released and loved it. I love the story, the humor, and the characters. It's a great romance novel.
I was in the mood to experience the story again but needed my eyes for other things so I decided to purchase the audio book. Within the first 30 minutes I was certain I'd be returning it. I really didn't like the way the narrator handled the voices at all. As the book went on, however, she seemed to settle into the voices more and I was able to enjoy the story.
If you're a fan of lesbian romance books, stick with this one and I don't think you'll be sorry.
Like many other reviews have already pointed out, many of the things the author shares are things that I've heard before. But there were several items that I've been able to incorporate into my life so it was certainly not a wasted credit or wasted time.
I would definitely listen again. I was easily able to connect with the main characters and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing them to life.
There were times when her narration felt so real and so raw that it brought me to tears.
I loved Millie. I truly felt like she was sharing her love, her grief, and her memories with me. My heart broke for her at times.
I enjoy Gillian Flynn's dark, disturbing writing and the narrators did a fantastic job. Just fantastic.
I've never listened to anything with these narrators but they made the characters come alive for me. I think it added to the story quite a bit.
I did feel that the ending was too drawn out and that made it feel anticlimactic. However, I do love Flynn's way of writing unlikable characters.
