Make it longer. This book should have been combined with another book in the series. It had an odd storyline - Flirting - and I still don't understand why the story revolved around how every in it flirted. I had a hard time determining which was the main plot story and which were the sub plot stories - they all mingled and felt rushed. Nothing adds to the overall story either.
No, of all the books in the series, this is one that can be skipped with no impact.
Yes, all the other Anita books she narrates. Great as always.
I am sad that audiobook charges full price for this short book.
I love Molly Harper, have read all her books and this one is among my favorites. Great characters, interesting plot with the haunted mansion.
Molly's Bluegrass series is similar to me, a great mix of characters with multiple relationship paths (friends, lovers, family).
Yes! Love that she has read another Harper book. She does it so well.
Not really, the ghost story plot really kept things moving/changing/interesting but there wasn't really one moment. Too many funny, laugh out loud moments to list.
I don't usually write reviews but after reading so many negative reviews about this book, I held off reading it and I was so happy with the story and found that I did not agree with many of the reviews. I felt this was very much Molly Harper style, with witty characters, hysterical dialog and just the right mix of drama and sexy. I just wanted to leave a positive review in case someone needs a nudge, don't wait if you are a fan of Harper!
Absolutely. I think this series is fantastic and the second book is even better than the first.
Sebastian and Kaderin of course but I also think Keaden is hysterical.
Yes, the first book in this immortal series. He is great. The accents are perfect and make you want to listen for hours. His accented growls of the male characters are toe curling fun. The females are a bit breathy at times, more in the first book but he makes up for it in the second. The main females voice is perfect this time around.
Yes, I laughed out loud and a few different parts defintely made me cry. This story is so passionate and agonizing, it is hard to stop and take a break.
As I said, I enjoyed the first book of this series but I enjoyed the second one so much more. I will reread this many times. Sebastian and Kaderins story is awesome. They both have histories that make you root for them and curse them at times. They are passionate and fierce. There is angst and agony throughout but it is not so dramatic that it overwhelmes. This book also introduces many other lore species through the competition. I love the glimpes you get, both funny and intriguing. Lastly, I love the Amazing Race like scavenger hunt in this story. It brings the characters to the most interesting places, puts them against complex competitors and adds so many levels of intensity to this (already) high octane story. It is fast paced, melt in your seat, can't wait to see what happens next fun. Can't wait to continue on with the series. Cole is quickly becoming a new fav of mine.
Pretty high. It has a great story, great characters and Wards writing style is fantastic.
Jim Heron. He has a fascinating back story, he is all the things a male character should be in a JR Ward series - tough, kind, hot. Always struggling to do the right thing in the strangest and toughest of circumstances.
I loved them all. His voice is amazing. He just pulls you in.
I am so glad that I have another JR Ward series to keep my busy while I wait for new black dagger books. BDB is still my favorite series by far but the characters and storylines in the Fallen Angels series are just as promising and I look forward to the next book in the series. JR Ward has quickly become my favorite author. I love her voice and her dedication to accuracy. Her stories have such complicated characters and locations and histories and she does an amazing job interweaving long spanding, overarcing storylines with specific, detailed events. Her multiple POV style is so refreshing.
I can't pick just one thing. I was searching for a new series after reading the Anita Blake series and this one was suprisingly refreshing. I have read a lot of other paranormal romance series and the main characters are usually female, bad ass females true but what I really love about this series is that you get both points of view - female and male and the primary one is male. The thought process is still there but it is much quicker and to the point. It is a nice change. I love the strength of the characters - their loyalty, fierceness, repect for each other, their mates and their race and history. The story does a great job of balancing the drama of war/violence and romance without either one taking the stage for too long or being drawn out in any way. The action keeps the story moving and you just feel for all the characters and want to know where they all end up. You not only get both the male and female perspective but also the perspective from the brotherhood and their enemies. They are warriors and the author does a fanstastic job of introducing you to the warrior mentality and it is fierce and Hot! The narrator is also great. Some of the reviews made me weary but I think he nails the voices perfectly.
Wrath and Beth's first meeting. The author does such a good job of putting you in their heads, it is too good to give too much away~
I thought he did a fantastic job with them all - I guess it would be a toss up between wrath and butch. wrath is the ultimate warrior king and butch is the strong comic relief seeing this world for the first time.
A great start to the series. I can't wait to see where the series takes all the brothers.
The author led me to the series. I enjoyed the story and the world. It leaves a lot of room for growth.
I liked the dynamic between the main character and the guard. I found that the story had too many characters and back story to keep up. I would need to read this book several times before I understand the world, culture and characters.
I am a fan of the Anita Blake series by this auther so I wanted to try this series out. I did not find it as thrilling. The story has all the elements I usually look for - paranormal, great characters, romance, sex, fighting, dynamic relationships...but it is missing something for me. I did not feel a need to read the second story or at least I did not want to spend $$ on it.
I loved that this book gave Jason and Anita alone time. I love Jason's character, he is funny and practical and Anita seems to listen to him or should I say, she tends to hear him. He is just the other half of another piece of her...if that makes any sense. In the same way Jean-Claude, Edward, Micah and Nathaniel are all the other halves of her without making her whole.
The 2 day possession. Mommy noir is a bitch!
She is more feminine than Kimberly. She makes all the characters a little softer. I really do enjoy both narrators of the series.
Anita books - always :-)
I am still over Richard, have been for a few books now but he just keeps coming back for new (annoying) reasons. I am a little confused over the werelion (Haven) and weretiger (Crispin) additions. They are there in the background but not really part of the story, yet it seems like they have to be...I hope that gets straigtened out soon. I am not against the multiple men story line like some but if you are going to introduce new players, bring them in or leave them out. Don't have them hover on the peripheral without purpose. Then it will get annoying. I see that the narrators change back on the next one, can't wait to hear the original anita again. Cynthia did well but Kimberly is the original~
This feels more like an Anita book than the last one. I love that Edward is back, all the men are involved in the latest crisis and there are actual bad guys that need to be stopped. I am getting a bit tired of dolf and I am over Richard and his lameness. Replace him with Jason in the triumverant and move on. He is weak and annoying. I am surprised that yet again there is no zombie raising but there can only be so much in one book I guess. Oh, and I am so disappointed in the brillance recording, the bad intro music it just odd. Can all the audio book recorders just leave out the music or pick something simple?
I loved that this book was all about one of Anita's men...I thought it was odd that Micah got a whole book to himself but I was in no way disappointed, even with the change in narrarator.
We get to learn about Micah's past and if Micah and Anita can deal with it just being the two of them for a little while
Either Kimberly (the original Anita) or Cynthia (the 2nd Anita) would have been better than adding a new voice. But it was a short story (only a few hours) so I did not mind the change in narrator.
I love that this book continues to explore Anita's powers and relationships
There really was not anything memorable about this one...I am questioning the purpose of this book in the series....
I really enjoy this series. I stuck through the change in narrarators. I enjoy the many, many characters and how they all add and change the story. But this book just seems unneccesary to me. The characters did not interact the same way as the other books, I don't see Anita really learn anything that she did not know before (she may have learned more about things she knew before, but nothing new), there were no cop cases, no new enemies. I don't think she even animated a corpse. The way the book starts sets an expetation that is not dealt with or even brought up the second half of the book (trying not to give too much away here, I don't mean to be vague) I expected new enemies, new allies...this book feels unfinished...like it could have been added to the book before or after it and you would not have even noticed. What is the purpose of bringing all the masters into the story if not to add enemies or allies? The ending just came too fast after a long drawn out day (yeah, I think the whole story takes place over a day or two) of unexpected things...and I am getting tired of the mother of darkness dropping into the story and not understanding why...hopefully the next books sheds some light on that mystery.
