"Self important ranting"
Bourdain could deliver some meaningful information for food lovers and travelers. He, instead, chooses to use this forum to berate his peers, whine about almost everything and, prove to the world that he has the maturity of a 13 year old.
Tony lost a lot of credibility with this one.
"Great story, the worst narration"
I love food writing, I truly do. Gabrielle Hamilton is a gifted writer but I can't say the same about her narration. Her monotone turned a great book into a chore and I can't say I'd recommend it to anybody.
Read it, have someone read it to you but don't waste your money on this audio book.
"P&C develop a new exciting character"
Loved it! It's brain candy with a loose connection to reality. I look forward to Gideon's next adventure.
"Great story - poor narration"
The narration of this book misses on many counts. The reader's monotone voice hides the emotion that should be the center of this tale. There is no clear organization of the telling, chapters flow together like a runon sentence.
I believe another reader would make this story come alive.
"Outdated and tired"
This book is irrelevant in 2007. So is Dave Barry.
"A moving tale"
I couldn't stop listening.
