After my huge disappointment with the narration of Cole's prequel The Warlord Wants Forever, I was ready to be disappointed again. How wrong I was!
A romance star is born and his name is Robert Petkoff.
I'm not even half way through the audiobook A Hunger Like No Other and I felt compelled to write a review. In this first book in the Immortals After Dark series, many characters are introduced and most are female. This could be a challenge for a male narrator but Petkoff does not disappoint. Each female character I've heard so far is recognizable and distinct. And his characterization of the male lead Lachlain is spot on; his Scottish brogue is smooth and sexy. Timing and pacing is excellent. Petkoff is an accomplished narrator, but this appears to be his first step into the Romance genre. I hope he continues to narrate this series.

This is the best book so far in the Shadow Wranglers series. There appeared to be more attention to character development; with emotions better explained and explored. The tone of the book was not as "angry" as the first two, and when anger was displayed, it felt appropriate to the situation. The narrator, Tavia Gilbert, does an excellent job voicing this series. Each character is easily identifiable. I particularly liked her characterization of Jace; very believable. If Gilbert continues to narrate this series, I will continue to listen.

I am a huge Kresley Cole fan and have been waiting forever for her books to be released in audio format. And, when I saw that there was a male and a female narrator, I was over the moon!To say that I was disappointed in the finished product of The Warlord Wants Forever is an understatement. While the story itself is fun, sexy, and sweet (with Cole's trademark humor), the audio version is one of the worst I've ever heard. Problem #1: The story is told completely in third person but the narrators take turns reading each chapter and doing all the voices within that chapter. So, the fact that there is a female and a male narrator is completely wasted. The two narrators never interact with each other. Problem #2: Because the narrators voice all the characters (male and female) in the chapter they're reading, there is no consistency with how the characters are portrayed. The result is choppy narration. Problem #3: The male narrator does a good job with the male characters; he has a great accent. The female narrator rushes her lines and sounds more like she's reading than narrating a story. Her portrayal of the male lead is so different from the other narrator as to be unbelievable. I remain a huge fan of Cole's Immortals After Dark Series. However, if the other books in the series are narrated just like The Warlord Wants Forever, I won't waste my money or my time listening.
