I just finished the audiobook after downloading it a while ago. It was well worth the long time to listen. The characters were very well developed and the storylines came together in a very realistic manner. I was sad when the book came to an end. The end of the book has a nice short interview with the author who talks about his experiences collecting information.
This was my second Sarah Strohmeyer, the first being the print version of The Secret Lives of Fortunate Wives (Note to Audible - Definitely add this to your catalog!!!). I love Sarah's take on male/female relationships and how her heroine's gather strengths, learn new skills, and come away with success. Yes, her character's decisions may not always be the ones we personally would choose, but the role of fiction is to entertain! Her dialogue is full of quick wit, humor, self-depracation and lively discussion. I liked the reading style of Johanna Parker in this book. I do admit I turned up the speed to 1.5 so I could finish the book during a recent road trip, but it made the story more intense and worked fine for my needs.
In today's economic world, The Penny Pincher's Club had a very believable storyline, and I felt compassion and understanding for the main character. The suburban housewife delves into tons of debt and her personal journey makes her stronger in the end. I'm not going to ruin the ending, but this could be a great Lifetime flick. Maybe Ashley Judd in the leading role and Mark Consuelos as her husband??
I recommend The Penny Pinchers Club highly and will now proceed to download more Sarah Strohmeyer books - probably start with the Bubbles series. Happy listening!
We listened to this title during some long drives at the end of the summer. Perfect for my 11 yr old, maybe too advanced for my 8 yr old. It provided some "teachable moments" about mean girls, being kind to others and doing your own thing without needing to fit into a stereo-type by being a leming.
Predictable drama, but fun pre-teen or teen brain candy.
This book is quickly becoming THE authority in marketing circles on the revolution of social media. Consumers are changing the way companies do business, and the major reason is because they now have a voice on the internet.
This book was written by the folks at Forrester after a very thorough review of the industry. It is sprinkled with fascinating case studies and real life examples of mistakes and successes to inspire other marketers like myself.
I highly recommend this audiobook and am now becoming a passionate advocate of the world of social media due to listening to this book.
I'm now a fan of author Jane Stanton Hitchcock after reading this book. I heard her a few years ago on an NPR interview and bought the download based on those merits. Now I'm so smitten with the strength of her lead heroine, Jo Slater, the strong society maven who has come back through thick and thin in Social Crimes and is now back in One Dangerous Lady. This is a great book! I highly recommend it!! Smart, funny, and if you want more, now a second book for those who can't get enough... like me!!
My favorite Patterson novel yet. It kept me guessing until the end!!
This was such a fun book! I am a devourer of Sue Grafton books, and this one was awesome!! Fast, fun, full of interesting characters -- it didn't disappoint! I loved the addition of a romance - it was done with Kinsey's typical no-nonsense practical approach and tongue-in-cheek humor. Judy Kay is great narrator too, really getting the pace and irony of Kinsey. I recommend this download highly!!
I loved this brain candy! It was fast, funny and very modern. I hope the author continues this stream. The behind the scenes look at the Hollywood publicity machine is fun for any readers of today's tabloid gossip!
