I've read all of James Rollins' books. I buy and read/listen as soon as each new one comes out. I was surprised when I was disappointed in this one. The story seemed to be a series of hackneyed elements from other series and books I've read over recent years. The characters' dialogue was juvenile in many instances. I expected someone to come out with "golly gosh" at any time. Overall it didn't read/listen like a true James Rollins book with the action rolling me along to the point that I could not put the book down. Please where is Sigma Force??

The redeeming quality was the narrator. He brought life to the mostly cardboard characters with his voice.

Ruth remains one of my favorite mystery characters. She is very real with believable strengths and weakness. Like all of us she is always second guessing herself. DCI Nelson and the Druid Cathbarth, other characters in these tales, are well developed with their own strengths and weakness. Ms. Griffiths' books, well plotted and riveting until the last paragraph, leave the reader wanting more.

The author has so many major characters that it takes time to meet, describe and understand who they are. My advice is take the time. The narrator keeps the flow going and there is lots of action to hold your interest. Has the making of an epic series if Book 2 is as action filled and interesting.''

This is book 2 in a three book series. The first book caught my interest enough to bring me back to listen to 2. I liked 2 even better!! The characters - Mark, Jennifer and Heather - develop more skills and depth. Who would have guessed they could clean up in Vegas. Jack proves to be even more invincible than in book 1. Go back and read book 1 before tackling this one to fully enjoy the story.

Yes, I will as new ones are brought to audio books. I've listened to most that are already available in audio format. There are several classics that I would love to see recorded. Can't remember titles after a number of years but she had written a series many years ago about a female warrior and her companion. Great series.

The many things that I like about all of Cherryh's writings. A believable futuristic society; well-developed, sympathetic characters and interesting aliens.

If a narrator is good you are caught up in the story and not derailed by the narrator's voice or speech characteristics. Both of these narrators had me listening to the tale without thinking about their voices.

Cyteen is an excellent title for a movie as well as the book.

No, after listening to it, my reaction was disappointment. I had looked forward to it after reading summary. There was not enough action. Too much intra and retrospective thinking by story teller. Main character went back in his thoughts so often in the story that it was easy to lose track of where you were in the real time of the story. When there was action it was well written and enjoyable. Liked the relationship and contrast between the two characters who lived at the air strip. All characters were extremely well written. Story is scary in its reality.

Mentioned above more action and less going back in time to tell the story from different time periods. Some of this is fine, but to go back and back and back again was confusing. I generally love and read complex books.

Hig's return with the 2 deer in the sled and his defense against the attackers.

A movie and/or TV series would be possible with a less complex story, i.e, not so much retrospective thinking. Several interesting possiblities for Hig in movie role would be: James Franco, Matt Damon, or Will Smith. TV might be someone like: Joshua Jackson.

Would like to see a sequel to this book. With more action.

Eerie, Enthralling, and Twisting

Didn't read with the purpose of IDing most memorable moments, but enjoyed the opening sequence at the party, the oujii board message and the carpet search.

Choose any one of the above three as my favorite. Liked the twist with person who thought he was "Death".

Ms. Ellis has a number of published mysteries. Would appreciate more available on audio than are available currently. thank you.

I have many favorites among the numerous genres that I read (listen to) This book is one of the best of its genre. C. J. Cherryh is one of my favorite sf writers. There are enough clues as to how other races may have developed, their society and rules to keep the reader thinking and imagining how a human would react if he/she was in Tully's position. The narrator has a talent for projecting the voices of the different characters without being laughable in her efforts. I'll definitely listen to the other books in this series.

The Captain of the Pride was of course my favorite character. She dominated the story and her viewpoint drives the tale.

So many to choose from that I can't select my one favorite scene. The on planet activity toward the end was attention getting as much as the station scenes and the shipboard activities.

Understand this is a 1st book by the author. If so, it is especially terrific. Couldn't stop until I had finished. Perfect scary level. I hope there are many, many more to come from this writer.

I choose my mysteries with care and one of Peter Robinson's is not to be missed. I caught this on a recheck to ensure I had read (listened to) all earlier Bank's books. This is one not to be missed by dedicated Alan Banks fans. In this book he meets Annie Cabot for the first time. Sparks fly!! The way the two tales in this book are interwoven is superb. It's a book you will find hard to stop once you begin it.
