I honestly want hours of my life back trying to listen to this book. I was trying to stick with it but it so boring. Some whiny protagonist woman and the commentator makes it worse.

Not like any of the other books, way to many things going on for such a short book. Also way to much fluff and adding of charaters that in the big sceme of things dont matter.

I am one who is normally short on words. Its a great book and if she had 10 others like it on the market right now, I would buy them all now. That being said, I hope she makes more to this series, so can buy them.

After listening to this book, I don't know if the author went crazy or started sleep writing without know what he was doing.

This goes back to the previous books as well but THIS BOOK topped it. Something happened in this book that is unforgivable and it pisses me off to know end the Author made lite of the action.

David Valentine is on the short list of mine for being the worst protagonist ever. He is the very definition of being a hypocrite in all the books. To put it in book terms he is a Quisling. The some of the crap he does over and over and they the Author and story just blows off what he just did, he is so far over that grey line its sad.

For a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights brought peace and order to the Galactic Republic, aided by their connection to the mystical energy field known as the Force. But they were betrayed - and the entire galaxy has paid the price. It is the Age of the Empire. Now Emperor Palpatine, once Chancellor of the Republic and secretly a Sith follower of the dark side of the Force, has brought his own peace and order to the galaxy. This book is basically a back story character primer for the new ( Star Wars Rebels ) animation, the character focus is mostly on Kanan Jarrus & Hera Syndulla. How ever strong you think these characters are now, the TV series will make them even weaker based on a few things, 1) They are on Disney XD 2) I'v seen the long previews and they do 3) No one dies or gets badly hurt in ANY Disney XD show.

The shining light in this was Marc Thompson as the Narrator.

Seven years ago Kaylin fled the crime-riddled streets of Nightshade, knowing that something was after her. Children were being murdered— and all had the same odd markings that mysteriously appeared on her own skin….Since then, she's learned to read, she's learned to fight and she's become one of the vaunted Hawks who patrol and police the City of Elantra. Alongside the winged Aerians and the immortal Barrani, she's made a place for herself, far from the mean streets of her birth.

First thing that comes to mind while listing to the book is mutual of omaha wild kingdom and all sorts of animals. The heroine, if you can call her that is constantly being over shadowed by the males in the book, them being over protected of her and her not doing anything about it. Dominance this, dominance that just like the wild kingdom.

I am still on the fence with Khristine being a narrator, I will need to hear her read a book series worth my time.

First a plot is hatched that could destroy the New Republic in a bloodbath of genocide and civil war. Then comes the shocking news that Grand Admiral Thrawn--the most cunning and ruthless warlord in history--has apparently returned from the dead to lead the Empire to a long-prophesied victory.

As most folks have already stated, this is a great followup to the Thrawn trilogy. Marc Thompson has yet another great read under his belt.

The story is pretty solid for it's time and just like other EU books it tends to jump around a bunch.

The thing I disliked was Luke, and in some of the past books and a quite and few after this one. He is a self nominated Jedi Master but most of the books put him in these situations that a Jedi Padawan could get out ease and a real Jedi Master wouldn't have even broke a sweat, but yet here Luke is straining to do things like fight off 6 guys.

Some new readers and listeners think this book is new, it is not. It's over 16 years old. Random House Audio is just going back and redoing most of the EU books to current audio formats and editorials.

And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency.

First I want to say that I am conflicted on any new EU Star Wars books that are coming out after the Disney buyout. We really don't know if they are signed off on or what the deal is.

The Good: January LaVoy was a awesome choice for the Voice acting for the book, and she will melt your ears with her awesome voice. I would love for her to do more SW novels.

    * These Je'daii are not your Jedi you know and love. They show there arrogance in the story and how they cross the line, but that is all the matter of perspective right?
*Some what graphic in fight scenes, this could be a bad also for a SW novel.

The Bad: Just about everything else about the book.

*It's to short for such a huge opening of a new timeline of the universe.
*The whole talking in first person and present tense format is a bit annoying.
    * Introduction of profanity in a cleaver way, you will get the picture.
*The main character seems kind of off or just boring. Maybe I am being to critical of her, she does love to threaten just about everyone with death that she runs into.

This is what sums up this story and the Drow. They are arrogant, slavers, murderers, thieves and down right evil. For the first 6 hours of the book, I had no idea what was going on. During that time, every character that was introduced was killed within 30 minutes. I lost track of the body count. It was boring really.

There is not one single character I gave a second thought. Hells you don't even know who the main character is really. If there were he or she would be killed off within a hour anyway.

For the 5th book in the series, Rachel is another heroin that the character doesn't seem to grow as books progress, she seems suck in this whiney teenage girl that is a hippocrate. As far as being a hunter, she really hasn't done ANY hunting in the past 5 books. She has gotten her ass handed to her many times and saved by others many many times.
