"Not your typical Star Wars story"
I liked that the story was about a counter espionage group and Marc Thompson voiced it. What I like the least was the fact I didn't know this was a counter espionage book.
It gave a good incite to the counter intelligence groups of the Star Wars universe, but the characters were not very interesting, they were all no names to me. Not much background on any of them, especially why there was a rouge ex-Jedi running around with the squad.
Nothing stood out.
Not really; the book was one shot.
I don't think it needs another moving forward in my opinion. Not unless the author is going to delv deeper into some background of each character more, because I have to care about them to care about another book.
"Slavers, Murderers, Thieves and Boredom oh My!"
Some spoilers ( Warning ) ( Warning ) ( Warning )
This is what sums up this story and the Drow. They are arrogant, slavers, murderers, thieves and down right evil. For the first 6 hours of the book, I had no idea what was going on. During that time, every character that was introduced was killed within 30 minutes. I lost track of the body count. It was boring really.
There is not one single character I gave a second thought. Hells you don't even know who the main character is really. If there were he or she would be killed off within a hour anyway.
"Disapointed"
For the 5th book in the series, Rachel is another heroin that the character doesn't seem to grow as books progress, she seems suck in this whiney teenage girl that is a hippocrate. As far as being a hunter, she really hasn't done ANY hunting in the past 5 books. She has gotten her ass handed to her many times and saved by others many many times.
"Just buy it, it's worth it."
First, I hate you Kevin for leaving such a cliff hanger ending!
Second I wish the books were like 16 hours + long; it's such as kick ass series.
Aside from my whining, the book is go go go from the start and loved it because of that.
I want more damn it and now I gotta wait till Spring!!!
"Slow Book"
I felt this book dragged on more so than the others.
Right before the awake the sleepers, one of the Eletian grabs her and tells her to stop questioning everything and puts her in the moon spot. This during they are being assaulted by dark Eletians and she is whining and keeps questioning the Eletian queen!
I put the book down for 2 week because I found myself getting angry at the main character because she is so dependent on everything.
My thoughts really Echo what the other reviewer Bruce has already said about the main character in this book and some of the last one.
Karigan does NOT grow in this book and didn't in the last, she still is dependent on people and very naive, but yet she has supposedly trained with all these master swordsmen? she seems to get her ass kicked every time you turn around by something and she can't seem to defend herself even after all that training.
In the end I felt myself hating this character because of her not having Independence and no growth.
