"a good thriller"
This is a good thriller that is not predictable. Is is bloody and gross and exciting. It will keep you wanting to listen to more. I didn't find it quite as fabulous as the other reviewers but, it is definetly worth listening to.
"Average Listen, that's all"
Not a lot here. Typical Sandra Brown, if you like her style, then you should like this read. It seemed like she might be intentionally trying to appeal to the male reader more on this one. References to female body parts, male erections and farts.
Unlike other reviewers, I actually thought parts of this were NOT predictable. However, I thought the big climax (Epiloque) was rather boring.
"Finally!"
First off, thank you Davina Porter!
Finally an unabridged version of Outlander. For all of us Gabaldon fans, a true dream come true. This was fantastic to listen to. Can't tell you how many times I have read the book or how many people I have given the book to as gifts! It is just a great escape. I read all kinds of books, too. If you have never tried Historical Fiction this is a great place to start; it edges on Romance - I think Jamie and Claire have sex about 500 hundred times throughout the series, but thats what makes it fun! I learned a great deal about Scottish and European history from this series. This book is the best of the bunch. They all get very long winded after this one. Read it and enjoy.
I am so jealous of anyone reading it for the first time!
"just awful"
I have read the Notebook, Message in a Bottle and a couple of others, the first two were great and they have all gone down hill from there. The narration of this book does nothing to help it, his voice is monotone and "tinny". Dear John is predictable from page one. Save your money; this is just awful!
"Very good"
The credit for this great listen really must go in part to the incredible narrators; beautifully voiced. Full of passion, I felt the emotion in his voice so many times it brought tears to my eyes. This is a well written book and an easy read. However as others have noted - quite difficult to listen to if you have a great love and devotion for animals as I do. I have never gone to circus' for that reason so I am not sure why I chose to read this. But it was quite terrific.
"Got tired of the stories"
For some reason I just got plain tired of the story lines. They simply didn't hold my interest and I never finished this book. I am a huge fan of the genre; so it wasn't that. It just kind of fizzled for me.
"If you are a Gabaldon Fan you will love it"
Finally a great unabridged version of the Gabaldon books! This was great to listen to (I couldn't tackle the book). The story line wraps up a few things that have been hanging out there for a while and intriques us for more. As always, Geraldine James was excellent, other narrators, should strive to be like her.
"Terrible"
Sorry, but this is garbage. Couldn't even finish it. People just don't talk the way that the author has them talking - so silly and trying to be clever with every sentence. And a note about the narrator: it sounded like she had a sappy little grin on her face the entire time while reading..quite annoying.
