On the morning of December 22, 2005, New York City firefighter Matt Long was cycling to work when he was struck by and sucked under a 20-ton bus making an illegal turn. The injuries he sustained pushed him within inches of death. Miraculously, after five months in the hospital and more than 40 operations, Matt was able to start his recovery. This book chronicles Matt's road to recovery as he teaches himself to walk again and, a mere three years later, to run in the 2008 New York City Marathon.

    "Inspiring Story, Gift-Worthy Book"
    Overall

Honestly my luck with audiobooks has been poor. I was really getting discouraged in my selections as they just have not held my attention, and I've been pretty particular and paid attention to reviews. By luck I suppose I ran across this one, and boy am I glad I did. What an amazing story. Detailed - absolutely. Too much so - not in my opinion, but I'm a detail person and appreciated it. I agree with another reviewer - the fact the reader has a New York accent aids in the enjoyment and the ability to visualize what's described. Just can't say enough. Type of book I'd buy and gift to people - and not just athletes as the story applies to anyone who's faced with challenge. Few in my opinion would regret this purchase. Just hope I can find others in future that can hold a candle to this one.

Will Robie may have just made the first - and last - mistake of his career.... It begins with a hit gone wrong. Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable: He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.

Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a 14-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway....

What disappointed you about The Innocent: A Novel?

I apparently did not read the reviews that made note of the sound effects. I just could not focus on story. I was driving when I first listened and literally could not believe the sounds were coming from the book I was listening to. I don't return many, but this one is going back on the shelf. I've read a fair amount of Baldacci and really enjoyed them. This was my first listen and I will be much more diligent in my selections from this author in the future. I was really looking forward to entering into a new series, so this was a major let down.

Has The Innocent: A Novel turned you off from other books in this genre?

    Not at all.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performances?

Possibly, but only if not accompanied by cheap sounding effects.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Honestly I did not get far enough to note any.

    Any additional comments?

Thank goodness Audible has a return policy.

The President of the United States can’t decide how to respond to a classified video showing the Taliban’s brutal treatment of their captive - a female helicopter pilot of the Army’s elite Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Afraid that a botched rescue will further destabilize foreign policy and end his presidency, the Commander-in-Chief falters. But when the Special Ops community learns that one of their own is being tortured and will almost certainly be killed, no executive order will stop them from attempting a rescue mission.

If you could sum up Sniper Elite: One Way Trip in three words, what would they be?

    Engaging, detailed, dramatic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sniper Elite: One Way Trip?

The several points in book where you have to laugh at wiseguy comments, there were several.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Panjshir Valley in general and Iran jump, both good

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme but both dramatic and amusing throughout.

    Any additional comments?

Narration was exceptional and I have listened to quite a few in this genre.
