Bellamy Lyston was only 12 years old when her older sister Susan was killed on a stormy Memorial Day. Bellamy's fear of storms is a legacy of the tornado that destroyed the crime scene along with her memory of what really happened during the day's most devastating moments. Now, 18 years later, Bellamy has written a sensational, best-selling novel based on Susan's murder. Because the book was inspired by the tragic event that still pains her family, she published it under a pseudonym to protect them from unwanted publicity. But an opportunistic reporter for a tabloid newspaper discovers that the book is based on fact....

This book reads like earlier Brown , the only thing that brings it into the present is the mention of an IPad. it has the twists that she does so well, but predictable. Marginally worth your time cash credit.

Following the success of his latest novel, Travis Glasgow and his wife Jodie buy their first house in the seemingly idyllic western Maryland town of Westlake. At first, everything is picture perfect—from the beautiful lake behind the house to the rebirth of the friendship between Travis and his brother, Adam, who lives nearby. Travis also begins to overcome the darkness of his childhood and the guilt he’s harbored since his younger brother’s death—a tragic drowning veiled in mystery that has plagued Travis since he was 13.

This is in the YA category but it has some edge, very similar to the Rhiannon Frater books but not quite as good, but still is worth the listen. I've listened to both books and I will get the next. If you like the genre it's worth your time cash or credit.

One hundred years after the zombie apocalypse, those lucky enough to survive now exist in scattered cities, under the merciless rule of the City Watch. A simple tenet overshadows all aspects of daily life: obey or die. When Jonah Lovecraft is framed for murder, his status as a Watcher doesn't spare him from the ultimate punishment: being cast into the Barrens and forced to battle zombies and other criminal contestants in the Darwin Games.

As he fights for every heartbeat, his daughter, Ana, embarks on her own desperate quest to uncover the truth about her father. Yet neither expects their efforts to reveal grim secrets that could tear apart the fabric of society - if either lives long enough to expose the truth.

The story in this book is adequate , but the writing is questionable. The author added 4 letter words indiscriminately, I don't mind slang or cursing in the books I listen to, but in this book it was blatantly juvenile, and lacked any art. I prefer swearing with some finesse.
I can not recommend this book in audio, maybe the print works better,

I read the premis and thought, could be interesting . Glad I took the chance. My serial killer /PSD allogory was sadly lacking before this. This book is a solid 3.75. There is also a YA book based on the same idea and I think I will get that also. Definitely worth your time cash or credit. Enjoy

Michael J. Sullivan garnered critical raves and a massive readership for his Riyria Revelations series. The first book in his highly anticipated Riyria Chronicles series of prequels, The Crown Tower brings together warrior Hadrian Blackwater with thieving assassin Royce Melborn. The two form a less-than-friendly pairing, but the quest before them has a rare prize indeed, and if they can breach the supposedly impregnable walls of the Crown Tower, their names will be legend.

I listen to audio books so I can get in the zone of creation....and I have nothing that sound good. But then the clouds break sunshines, and Mike Talbot is there to take me threw the darkest night and in to the light. Beyond my creative rescue the story is bang on with a great bite. A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.
