"Excellent story - Excellent reading"
I wanted to submit a 2nd review of this novel and this recording. I've since listen to several other records like Sense and Sensibility and Emma, and I have to admit that I still love this novel and its reading the most. The narration is excellent and she brings life to the story and that the other narrations fail to do.
Bottom line - if you're looking for an excellent recording of a Jane Austen novel, then you start and finish here.
"Great story - Poor narration quality"
This was a very odd recording for the novel. It seemed to me that narrators were switched in the middle of story off and on. I love listening to Frederick Davidson, but in parts of this, his voice either changed or someone else was brought in to do the narration. My recording also repeated several times in the 2nd part of this download.
All in all, the book is great but the quality of the narrated product is far below others I've listened to Audible.
I hope this is not a trend that continues.
"Great audio - Disjointed book"
I don't know what it is...I have each of his other book on my iPod and I love them all. This just seemed so unorganized, such a clunker, that I was hoping someone wrote this and not him.
The audio does make up for it with his great delivery. But material is far from stellar. I'd avoid this selection and focus on his other material
"Interesting story - poor narration"
I really wanted to love this story, I did. Being here in Virginia, there is alot of interest of the Jamestown Settlement. There is alot of interesting details but the delivery is what's lacking. It was like listening to a dull lecture. I've liked most things I've downloaded here but this is by far the worst thing I've listened to.
"Listening for a 2nd time already"
I am a big fan of this classic story and have waited for this book to be available on Audible.
I was really dubious about how it would sound when it is dramatized, but I really enjoyed the different voices, background music. It wasn't overdone at all.
If anyone enjoys this novel as much as I do, then I would highly recommend this recording. Especially since it's 1 credit for over 20 hours of great storytelling, it's a steal.
"Good Balance, Poor audio quality"
The author writes a great story and presents a balanced review of the successes and failures of Reagan throughout his political career. He helps to de-mystify the neocon perceptions on the invicibility of the Reagan revolution. As a big fan of the former President, I thought the most striking thing was the balanced approach.
The audio was the weirdest thing. The narrator's voice seemed to change throughout the different chapters - like it was running at different speeds. If the audio quality were better I'd rate it higher
"Excellent story - excellent recording"
I was drawn to the story with the movie due out soon. I couldn't stop listening to this recording. The author doesn't try to glamorize things, he does an excellent job at recounting who the 'true heroes' of Iwo Jima were and his quest to uncover why his father tries to downplay his role and why he doesn't share his memories of it. He does a great job at weaving all the other biographies, roles into this account.
The narrator does a great job expressing the different emotions throughout the recording.
I highly encourage anyone who wants to see the movies to download this first.
"Slow start, better finish - poor narration"
From what I've read about the works of Jane Austen, I believed that this was supposed to be her best work. However that didn't come across at all in the recording. The narrator was dull and uninspired through most of the reading, so it was an incredibly boring.
I have listed to Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility already and enjoyed them far more than this.
If other unabridged samples exist, listen to them first before buying this uninspiring reading
"Great story - Fair audio"
Patton's biography is a great listen, however, the audio quality is disappointing. The narrator is decent, but again, the quality made this review less than what it should be.
It's great listening to the history of the end of WWII and the inner workings and political. intrique between him, Ike, and Bradley.
"Great blend of history and adventure"
What I found great about this novel was the approach of educating the listener about the terrian and its history. I doubt I'd ever learn this much about Brazil and its history. I have always been a big fan of TR and found this book really compelling. After losing the election of 1912, you wonder what happens to him. This book provides great insight into that part of his life. Truly worth your time in my humble opinion.
