What made the experience of listening to The Alchemyst the most enjoyable?

The story line is realy great, and the narator is great

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I wouldn't be so corny in calling the elders and the second generation vampires that are not really vampires.

Have you listened to any of Denis O'Hare’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have'nt, but he is good

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No, not really

    Any additional comments?

I realize that you would want to capitalize on what is hot. But vampires and vampires and no actual vampire in sight. I know, they explain what a vampire is in the book, yea yea, whatever. If your'e going to make stuff up, make it up all the way. All authors that write vampire stories should read Bram Stokers Dracula and Stephen Kings Salems Lot. Stick with a traditional vampire and if you feel the need to make something else up, by all means, do so, but give it a different name. Current authors have given vampires such a broad scope, next they will be saying "see that wall over there, its a vampire!!
But the book is a good read.

Microbiologist Michael Cochrane has been murdered. His brother, Paul, wants to find out who did it and why. It's clear that Michael was working with cyanobacteria, the bacteria that crack water molecules and release free oxygen. It's less clear why this would get anybody killed.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    People that like corny.

What could Ben Bova have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not make it corny, I know he can, because I have read a lot of his books. Either that or made a few small changes and turned it into a comedy. But then I wouldn't have purchased it.

Which character – as performed by Stefan Rudnicki and Kathe Mazure – was your favorite?

    Paul

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Green Trap?

Too many, but that would have left a short story instead of a novel, probably an improvement.

    Any additional comments?

    Just really disappointed.

Under the direction of famed explorer Porter Stone, an archaeological team is secretly attempting to locate the tomb of an ancient pharaoh who was unlike any other in history. Stone believes he has found the burial chamber of King Narmer, the near mythical god-king who united upper and lower Egypt in 3200 B.C., and the archaeologist has reason to believe that the greatest prize of all - Narmer's crown - might be buried with him. No crown of an Egyptian king has ever been discovered, and Narmer's is the elusive crown of the two Egypts.

Would you listen to The Third Gate again? Why?

Yes, someday. I don't like listening to books to soon because I tend to get ahead of the book in my head, but this is one I will listen to again someday.
As to why, its a great story, set in a great location with all the things a thriller needs to be great.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes! Although I did see some of the things coming, (a disadvantage to reading a lot), there were enough surprises to keep me guessing.

Which character – as performed by Johnathan McClain – was your favorite?

If I have one favorite character, I consider the book a failure. This book was not a failure.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No.

The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

What did you like best about Pandora's Star? What did you like least?

What I liked best? I managed to finish listening to it. Now, mind you, I like long books, with lots of characters and a broad story line, but. This book was disjointed to the point that when you reentered a part of the storyline, you spent several minutes of listening going, Huh!
I think I just answered what I liked least.

What could Peter F. Hamilton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Kept it more together.

Would you listen to another book narrated by John Lee?

I don't really pay too much attention to the narrator unless they are really great or really bad, he was neither. He could have been more distinctive between characters, sometimes you would lose track of who was who, but that could have been part of the writing problem.

Do you think Pandora's Star needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It's obviously part of a series. I didn't realize that when I downloaded this book, and for the first time in a long time, I won't listen to the other books in a series I started.

Stephen King's second novel, Salem's Lot, is the story of a mundane town under siege from the forces of darkness. Considered one of the most terrifying vampire novels ever written, it cunningly probes the shadows of the human heart and the insular evils of small-town America.

Would you consider the audio edition of Salem's Lot to be better than the print version?

No, I can't say that it is. But it is a great listen. It is Salem's Lot after all.

Who was your favorite character and why?

They are all great and part of the story, not many books integrate the characters like this.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Danny came to the window, I won't say who's window or when because it would be a shame to spoil it for you.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

They did. And My tag line would be "Read the Book" or listen to it.

    Any additional comments?

I read this book over 25 years ago, while living in a not so good neighborhood downtown. Read in the evenings and late at night, when the neighborhood came alive with screams and other noises. It was great, the best bump in the night book ever, and the listen is great too!
If you read this, don't forget to read The Shining too.

What made the experience of listening to Odd Thomas the most enjoyable?

The writing style of Dean Koontz

What other book might you compare Odd Thomas to and why?

The Cristopher Snow novels by Koontz. Christopher and Odd both have something weird about them.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Don't think I had a favorite, Koontz just came through again.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, I just liked the book.

    Any additional comments?

I avoided this book for a long time, the description didn't really capture me, but I was in the mood for a Dean Koontz novel and decided to try it, and like others of his that I was hesitant about I was very pleasantly surprised. Glad I listened to this book.

What did you like best about Beneath the Dark Ice? What did you like least?

    The characters.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I think I will need a SciFi after this.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Sean Mangan?

Probably, I don't really notice the narrators unless they are really good or really bad, he was average. Maybe the fact that the story was not that great, made him seem not that great.

Could you see Beneath the Dark Ice being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes. I usually don't care for movies that come from books that I have read, but in this case I think a movie version would be a great improvement.

    Any additional comments?

If you are a fan of thrillers or horror on the ice, I think you may be disappointed, I was.
