Loved the movie, think I liked the book when I read it 30 years ago, however, this was very boring narration, I recommend you look at other versions of this book.
Nice series of stories tied together into the book. It comes across as a book, but also as distinct stories within the book. Charming story to imagine.
I am a sci fi/fantasy person and here I am reading a murder/mystery series, but it is terrific and I have really enjoyed the series, the author has a great take on history and the various areas during this colonial period, and a fascinating story in this book as in the entire series.
I tried to listen to this book. I tried for many hours, I found it difficult to engage with the main character the hive mentality the bug orientation they seem to have going, related to bees in some respect with consorts. Mostly, it was strange and not interesting and I can't say that I have ever stopped listening to a book, but this one I have stopped. It was just plain boring to me and I like fantasy.
Wonderful touching story, I greatly enjoyed the book and found myself very moved by this story. Will look for more books from this author who writes with such a clear vision.
I began this book eagerly having enjoyed the first book. The heroines internal conflict over the two brother's was tiresome to me and the sexually demanding brother was disturbing to the point that it eclipsed the interesting story of the quest theme.
I am stopping now and not continuing the series, this was too disappointing and felt too bubble-gum to me. Listening to it I was struck by the contradictions in the character of the heroine and the sexual messages this might convey to younger female (and male) readers about the basic respect of sexual boundaries between people.
Perhaps I am reacting strongly to it, but I am disappointed and unable to continue even though I would like to hear the quest resolution, sigh.
Charming book, very enjoyable to listen to and I found the involvement of the India goddess very interesting. I look forward to the second book.
Not my usual genre for reading, however, I thought I would check it out, very interesting and entertaining, good performance, purchased the next two in the series as well. Strangely enough the last 3.5 hours were blotted out and I was unable to listen to them on my Ipod only online.
I read this book after hearing she was a contemporary of his and wrote stronger female characters. I have to say, I enjoyed his Woman in White and especially the Moonstone so much more. About two months after listening to the Moonstone it was referenced so many times in other books and shows that I was very pleased to have read it here. This was pleasant, however not as engaging as the other author. I have to say the narrator makes a huge difference,
A different twist on Snow White, it was an enjoyable listen, not necessarily riveting, but pleasant and light.
