"The Book Case" is a story that features Nelson DeMille's most famous (and successful) character, Detective John Corey, who has appeared in six DeMille novels: Plum Island, The Lion's Game, Night Fall, Wild Fire, and The Lion. In this story, we see John Corey in his early years as an NYPD Detective, before he became involved with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, this book, even though it is a short story, did not live up to the name of the author nor did it do justice to the character of John Corey. I have read almost every book of DeMille's and particularly enjoy the John Corey series. This seemed to be an afterthought.

What could Nelson DeMille have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Write it as a full length novel which would give time for the personality of John Corey to expand and give a wonderful writer such as DeMille time to develop the background needed for this piece.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Brick is a great performer and I feel that what I did enjoy of the story was the performance of Brick.

Could you see The Book Case being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No

At once a Gothic thriller, a passionate romance, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of science, Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering "the cause of generation and life" and "bestowing animation upon lifeless matter", Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts. However, upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature's hideousness.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I wanted to check out the "classics" but this was painful. I pictured the "monster" as a wealthy tycoon sipping scotch in a high back leather chair while listening. Had to just shut it down and might I add this is the first time I have ever stopped listening, reading or watching any book or movie. I sincerely hope that you find it enjoyable and if I could give you my copy I would.

What was most disappointing about Mary Shelley’s story?

Personally just did not enjoy the story

Would you be willing to try another one of Simon Vance’s performances?

    Not likely

What character would you cut from Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus?

    The cast

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Yes, the background story and historical truths that have been tied into this story were very well put together.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?

Ford's Theater scene with John Wilkes Booth.

Which character – as performed by Scott Holst – was your favorite?

    Lincoln

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many instances are well written and convey the misery that Lincoln dealt with too much in his lifetime with the loss of his children and sister Sarah.

Would you listen to Riptide again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to Riptide again but would definitely skip through a lot of the chaff in the background setup.

Hatch and his brother's expedition into the tunnel.

What aspect of Scott Brick’s performance would you have changed?

Nothing, Brick is a great narrator.

When Hatch elaborated on the loss of his father.
