I heard of this author and this book when news of black men on the down low became a hot topic of discussion. I did not read it then I was not interested in the topic at that time. I saw it here and thought what the heck. It was an enlightening listen. I don't have an opinion about gay people in general. To each it's own. I guess the book served it's purpose for me. I don't think I will listen to the rest of the books by this author if the storyline continues like this. This not the image I want to have of professional African American men. For those who want an eye opening experience as to how this could happen take a listen you probably won't be disappointed in the content.
Kudos! to Carl Weber. I really enjoyed listening to this book. I was about three men each with there own set of unique issues and drama. I was pleasantly suprised by the turn of events in this book. I will not spoil the fun. I quickly downloaded his next novel Something on the Side. Carl is creeping up on the list of my favorite authors. I highly reccomended this one.
I really enjoyed this book. This work of fiction had a wonderful message of forgiveness. I really like the portrayal of the trinity. I cannot wait until it comes out on film. I will be first in line. I had my husband listen. He rarely reads books for pleasure, he finished it before me and was eager to discuss it. Thanks Mr. Young for shedding a new & light perspective on the Love God has for all of his children. Great Job!
This was just ok, for me. The ending was way to predictable. There was a lot of jumping around from past to present. Towards the end I felt it repeated a large part that had been told in the beginning. Not Ms. Monroe's best work.
This is not quite what i thought it would be. However, I enjoyed the authors take on marriage and relationship the way God intended it to be. If you read the bible and are familiar with the verses about wife/husband submitting themselves to one another, this is an expansion of that thought. Sometimes we need a reality of check of our purpose when in a relationship. This was a great lesson for me. Kudos to the author.
My husband and I started listening to the The bible experience together. It was great. We followed along with our bibles. I look forward to listening to this for a long time coming. It is not boring The narrators are really playing the role. It was like listening to a stage play. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is church drama to the max. It it a shame to think, I could really see some mess like this occurring after the death of a first lady. The letters written by the first lady were a little far fetched. But, the chase for the available clergyman, I could see some desperate women behaving in such a manner as illustrated in this book. The book kept my attention and and eagerness to find out who would eventually become the pastor's wife. If you are offended with cursing, you may want to skip this one. I felt the use of such language did not enhance the storyline. This was my first book from Carl Weber, I would be interested in a few more from him after listening to this one.
I have read others books by this author this is not her best work. I couldn't finish it. The story line is boring and very difficult to keeep up with. The characters are dry.
