Yes, think that the audio is a definite improvement over the book version as you get more of an idea of who the characters really are by listening to the story. I also think that if I am drawn to the readers voice it makes me want to continue listening.
Althogh I liked Angus, my favorite character was actually Bowen who was his mother the water spirit. She was so gentle of a spirit which explains why Angus was gentle himself. Bowen had a big impact on Angus despite being taken from him when he was so young.
I found that the use of Angus and his bag of dreams was a great way for anyone to understand Angus and what he does.
I would take out Angus and pick his brain about my dreams and what they signify to me.
I would listen to other books by this author if I found others that interested me.
It was a short listen but it was a very fun read just not my overall favorite. It falls somewhere in the middle of all my listens so far. There are some very funny parts in this audio that definitely made it worthwhile for me.
I definitely would listen to this story again. Both the reader and the story as well as the characters kept me interested.
It was a wonderful love story and who can resist a story when the characters of lost love re-connect in the end.
Definitely worth your time!
A good reader but you will get more benefit from this book if you open the pdf file (that is in your audio library under this book title) so you can have access to pictures, graphes and other written info that is referred to in the audio. A pretty good audio book overall.
It's a well presented non-fiction audio. The pdf file makes it better than the actual book.
Definitely Recommend This
I loved this story. It had a nice mix of loss, love, history and time travel with a host of interesting characters which made for one of the best stories if not the best story ever listened to.
This is a Fantastic reader. I could listen to her speak all day long. This reader is one of the best english readers I have ever listened to. She seemed to capture everything this book needed to make it a wonderful experience. I believe I got more from this book because I chose to listen to the audio version as it brings the characters more to life and leaves me with more of an impression of what the author intended when they wrote the book.
Initially my reaction was sadness at the loss of her sister as I have also experienced the loss of a sister. I could surely relate to the pain of grief as the main character came to terms with her sister's death. In the end of the story I was left with both happiness and sadness. It was nice to see some hope and happiness in the end but it sure was interesting getting there. I was also left with sadness in the end as I was sorry to hear the end of this story. Very few have left me with that feeling. It made me laugh and cry at different times during the story and look forward to listening to other Susanna Kearsley books as they become available.
Bottom line: Susanna Kearsley is a wonderful and creative writer with a great imagination and I will look forward her next audio book that becomes available. Only 2 of Susanna Kearsley's books are availavle in the audio version. It would be nice to see more of her books with the audio option.
