"Great Bio From Isaacson!"
Steve Jobs is such a complex individual that it's amazing what a good job Isaacson was able to do. I found that the book, though long, is so compelling and intricately woven that it kept me turning the pages most of the night for three nights in a row! At first, I was a bit put off by the reader, but as the book moved on, I was glad for his performance. Steve Jobs is not just a book about a world class "asshole" or creative genius. Nor is it simply about tech developments and the growth of Silicone Valley or the insanely great products Jobs and Apple created. It is also an accurate reflection of my own life writ large. All of Steve's strivings for excellence, his almost naive romanticism and his spiritual questing I shared coming of age here in Northern California. My husband shared them, too. This may be one reason I found the book so exceptional. I am eager now to read Isaacson's other bios. I find him almost as amazing as his fascinating subject!
"Great Read. Fantastic Reader."
Not as enjoyable as Discovery of Witches, but still, wonderful characterization. Next time, a little less London history and travelogue would be nice. Could have been edited down quite a bit and still would have been a five-star read.
Congratulations to Ms. Harkness. She deserves the acclaim she's won :-)
"Fabulous!"
One of Silva's best, for sure. Loved the archaeology. Loved the characters. Loved the plot. Loved the reader. Don't hesitate on this one.
"This Memoir is a Blessing!"
Thank you, Mr. Hill for this fabulous memoir. I was only 14 years old when President Kennedy was killed, but I had been a die-hard believer in him and lover of Mrs. Kennedy since before his election. My heart was broken by the events in Dallas, by the pain and suffering of Mrs. Kennedy and the President's friends and family. It has taken years to be able to deal with the loss I felt. For 45 years, I could barely watch images of the Kennedy family without tears and that long-dreaded ache in my heart. The Kennedy Detail was the first book I could read that included any description of the assassination. You memoir completed the healing.
I'm no different from millions of other Americans who suffered so terribly over the death of our youthful President and in the years that followed, suffering made worse by all the conspiracy theories and the smutty, salacious books that have been appeared in more recent times.
Your friendship with Mrs. Kennedy was so lovely. Your recollections support the image and reality of the graceful, gracious First Lady of my youth. There is nothing but love and healing in your memoir, and I consider it a gift to humanity. I believe it is going to be wildly successful, a best-seller for sure, and you deserve it!
To readers: buy this book. You will love it. No matter how much you may have read or seen about the Kennedy family and the years that have come to be known as Camelot, you have never read or heard anything like this. Mr. Hill has given us the real deal: Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy as she truly was.
Jeremy Bobb gave a flawless performance. One of the best I've ever heard on any audiobook. Every inflection, every pause, every syllable brought the era vividly back and made your story even more enthralling.
"Finally a Narrator Worthy of the Series!"
I really love this excellent series and have read every book since I met the author at a writers conference years ago. I've tried a couple of audiobook editions, but have not enjoyed the experience until Ms. Gibel came on board. This narrator adds to the story in most positive ways. She seems an excellent fit, and I hope she continues in future audiobook editions.
"Absolutely Fabulous Retelling"
I thoroughly enjoyed this retelling of Achilles' story, culminating with his role in the mythic Trojan War. The characters are so fully realized they jump off the pages. The prose is stunningly beautiful. Even better is the narrator, whose performance is truly magnificent. Mr. Douglas portrays Patrocles with unparalleled skill. He elevates the audiobook to an art form worthy of the highest honor. This debut novel will break your heart with its loveliness. Brava, Ms. Miller!
