I can't help it, even as dated as it is, the over dramatic narration and Fat Ollie, I loved it.
Can't wait for another book, great story. Character development continues bringing Catherine a little more personality and depth. Warming her up a little. A little more violence, but still way down for today's standards.
I don't want to give anything away so I'm not saying much. I like that even though it deals with violence and serious stuff, the story never becomes moody or gloomy. Serious, sometimes a little sad, but also spots of humor, like real life. Not swedish gloom noir.
I hated to reach the end.
Publishers summary is good idea of the storyline.
I really enjoyed the continuing character development and interwoven storylines. Past present, different walks of life. A nice change from serial killers r us. A real mystery book that doesnt try to be too deep and brooding and has moments of humor.
Jasmine continues to impress me as a a herione, not some glamorous unrealistic hollywood sterotype and not some uber tough chick.
Great listen unless you have a hard time with accents. I enjoyed wvwry minute.
I listened to the three available in as many days.
Publishers summary was accurate without giving anything away. I enjoyed the style of writing and the way he leads you to think the obvious may be true, but never lets you believe. The characters are so well written, flawed a litle cliché but then a cliché is what it is for a reason. Some violence mostly though its just alluded to or very much toned down. Very little in the way of graphic detail, but some.
My favorite element is that even though Jasmine starts out a little bit of the wee damsel in distress, , you can see she has more grit. This is very much in evidence in the second and third books. Knowing your limitations doesn't always mean you're weak.
A nice quality read, FINALLY.
Two stalkers find each other. Should not have been a good listen but found myself enjoying it anyway.
The publisher's summary doesn't quite let you know what to expect. Its a little Minnesota if you know what that means, a quirky non violent North stalker story.
I had hoped the author would capture R.D. Wingfield's style. Jack is a little cruder, not quite as likable. Though he was no angel in the original series, he wasn't as boorish. The relationship with his wife is different as well and does not ring true.
Despite all the disappointments, the story is similar to originals with meshing story lines as well as good character development for supporting players. So overall a decent listen.
A friend strongly recommended this book, describle it as laugh out loud funny. Not really, but it wasn't horrible. The author sends very mixed messages on the topic of drugs, incarceration and being a spoiled rich kid.
I don't imagine any incarceration to be pleasant, however, I suspect her time would largely be described as easy compared to state facilities.
The book is a little self serving, but not bad for a deal of the day sale purchase.
However, the story wasn't as strong as the others. I have read each book available on audible in the series and and wait patiently for more. The publishers summary is right on the button without giving the story away.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though the story line was similar to others the characters and writing were so well done it seemed new and fresh. Even with the disturbing subject matter it was never base, vulgar or graphic. The writing allowed the listener/reader to see without being disturbed. First book in a long time I listened to with rapt attention, rewound when I thought I'd missed a nuance... Yes a nuance, it had that...enough said?
Not a lot of substance, but not gloomy and dark either. I am seriously getting tired of the depressing one note bleakness in mystery right now and found this a refreshing change. Doesn't take a lot of energy to focus on like a good beach book. Funny without being too silly.
Someone told me not to be a sci fi snob and I'm not, I enjoy fantasy reading, loved the artemis fowl series as I read them to my children. I just don't enjoy the monster djour genre and ridiculous sex scenes for the sake of sex. (Whew defensive much) If it's well written I'm almost always entertained.
I enjoyed the book even though its a teany little bit derivative of xmen in my opinion, it does seem plausible. The characters were well written, the story was fast paced, there was action, humor, a little love interest, but not sickening sex scenes.
