Having listened to hundreds of books on Audible I have come to one which takes the cake as being the most painful to try and listen. This book could have been written on 40 pages and, maybe, would have been an average read. However, nine (9) cds later and this book made me want to give up books forever.
As usual, the author does a excellent job but the narrator ruins the story by his inability to distinguish between the characters through his voice. You have to guess who is saying what because all the characters sound the same--even when it's a women. You will enjoy the book more by getting the abridged version and having it read by a far more capable narrator.
If you've ever listeded to a murder mystery, you will be able to anticipate every twist in this not very good story. When you can answer the questions posed by the main character long before the development of the plot or even before the evidence is presented, you have a poorly written murder mystery. However, other novels by this author have been very interesting and that is why I chose this one. History is not always the best predictor of the future...
This book has been one of the most enjoyable books I have listened to from Audible. It is a most interesting story of runaway girl who seeks shelter and resolution to a tragedy. You will, undoubtedly, like this book. The ratings tell the truth in this case.
This book is very informative and will give great insight into international trade. Do not, however, expect this book to be anything more than a very heavy dose of a lecture on successful business policy. I felt that the subject could have been adequately conveyed to the reader in half the time, however. The author seems to feel that is necessary to repeat himself many times in different ways throughout the book. Look for an abridged version.
If you enjoy sitting in a room listening to someone who goes on for hours telling you how wonderful they are, how talented and gifted in virtually every aspect of life, you will love this book. The author turns his hero into a personality so repulsive that I found myself rooting for the villain. The main character not withstanding, I found the book to be very well written. The story was well developed and would have been a excellent book to listen to had I not had to endure the relentless hours of verbiage from the hero telling us how adroit he was in every thing he attempted.
Slow, boring and silly nonsense.
