Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

What made the experience of listening to Where'd You Go, Bernadette the most enjoyable?

This is a great performance by the reader. Her reading put me right in the middle of this engaging story. Furthermore if you are familiar with the environment of high tech wealth, you will recognize that the author has managed to make a "true" picture of that life. From pretentious private schools to Antarctic vacations this is a humorous representation of real people with all of their faults and their attempts to escape the lies that they tell themselves about themselves and become more authentic.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The young daughter Bea. As usual the children lead.

Who was the most memorable character of Where'd You Go, Bernadette and why?

Bea as narrator is hopeful, curious, loving and funny.
