I like the series but this book is my least favorite. It's mostly about war. It's draining to hear a book mostly about battles. But since this is part of the series I got to hear it out.

It's great that a series I have loved has come to a close. Though It was done no where near how Robert Jordan writes i.e. Jordan writes at a slower pace with more descriptions and specifics with even more humor. Am glad Brandon finished the series just to bring closure. This book is the Last Battle so the book is mostly about fighting and war you'll get sickened by it. But what I found disappointing is the epilogue or in Jordans words...The Last Chapter. There was none. I have hoped it brought closure to our favorite characters. What happened after the last battle is what I was looking after. Disappointing and Lacking.

Am an OSC fan. I had to listen again to Pathfinder in anticipation of Ruins. It was downright disappointing. OSC had to constantly remind the readers of what happened in Pathfinder. This is the second book! We all read the first one so why the summary? There's not much action in this book either. Most of the story is a war of words. The characters mistrusting each other, self pity, bickering. The first half of this book was like that that I was tempted to just stop and ask for a credit. I mean, It was so annoying I trudged slowly to finish the book. Other OSC books I can get thru in one go. Not this one.

Typical Predictable Average

Not surprising. The ending needs a sequel.

Get a better narrator. This one's voice is depressing, Like listening thru a hollow tube in a haunted house.

No. Took me to buy a kindle book before it piqued my interest again.

This is your typical fantasy novel about a boy of humble beginnings with a family secret. Now when his land is in danger of invaders he learns of this secret and develops a magical capability which helps him and his friends battle that evil wizard and partially free his land of this evil. I said partially because the invading army isnt defeated yet and he still has to harness his magical powers. Like I said, Typical. If you like these kind of plots then go and read this as I am curious to know what is in store on the next book. But, am gonna buy it in kindle next time if it's going to be same narrator because this narrator is bad to listen to.

The constant flashbacks, the repetitive "Mother's Song", the repetitive formal introduction makes this an awful listen. To be reminded of what happened in her first 5 books makes this book like an all-in-one novel of all Jean's novels. Would have been better to read this in print so I can fast forward reading. Worthless credit in my opinion.

9 hours into the audiobook and I still dont get it. 9 hours of listening to nonsense idle description of dinner dates between a vampire and a witch. 9 hours of a hanging plot of a missing manuscript. Well, I dont get the plot. There's no mystery, no action, and even with the numerous dates...no romance. I dont get what these high reviews have on this novel. My fault for buying this credit based on these reviews. Dont make it yours.

Though the 5th book in the Samaria saga, I got it as my second as this is the sequel to Archangel. I suggest you do so. More of a romance than a fantasy novel but still well written.

The first few...ok, many chapters takes place before gathering storm ended. It was confusing at first like time traveling to bits of Perrin and Rands story. I think Brandon made a mistake in taking a leap into Gathering Storm ending without delving first into what happened. Well, anyways, the story is finally tied up. Robert Jordan wouldnt have made this mistake. To the last battle...

The constant retelling of the same story on previous books gets into your nerves. And why the sudden change of Ayla's voice like an Irish girl. Fire the editor for too many filler notes.

Like listening to a nag, this book recaps and retells what happened in the previous books. It's very annoying since we want to get to the story of this book but the author has this idea that her readers doesnt know the previous books. She can learn from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.
