The book is full of information and isn't written like a textbook. The information is put together well and everything makes sense. They also make a point to ensure the listener feels like a human being throughout, and not a student or a business.
If you were to buy one book to help you learn how to produce quality content, or come up with ideas for content, this should be that book.
The performance was next to terrible. The male speaker spoke too fast and all too often it was obvious he was reading. He mubles a bit at points and drops letters off of words. He's a fast talked which has its pluses & minus's. The female speaker was painful to listen to, though she got better as the book went on. She doesn't have a voice for this.
It's more of a scientific book, but overall the whole thing was very informative and helpful.
The organization of the content within the book is terrible- for instance, the author brings up KPI's multiple times, then finally when you are half-way through the book he finally explains what a KPI is. For the record, I know what a KPI is so this was fine for me, but what about those who don't? If you intended to explain what a KPI is, why wouldn't you do it the first time you bring it up. There are several issues like this throughout the book.
The reading of the infographics are absolutely painful.
This is an absolute beginners guide, in the form of a tedious text book. If you have any knowledge of digital marketing at all you should get something more advanced as you won't learn anything here.
The author references other areas of the book that I bet if you pulled every sentence with a reference out and put them into a separate document it would likely be a book in and of itself. If you can't point out everything you're trying to say when you're saying it then you probably need to rethink how your writing it.
Finally, it seems like the author formatted his book in the same fashion you might optimize a blog post. It had multiple links going to other places throughout the book, all the right content and tons of valuable information- it just wasn't executed well as a book.
Something more specific to marketing digital content.
It was clear that he was not understanding what he was reading, often times on a basic level. For instance the inflection of the word "however" at the end of a sentence which he pronounced as if it were the beginning of a sentence. There were several instances like this throughout the audiobook that, mixed with the poorly organized content, made for a really painful listen.
The information is all there for beginners. If you can pay attention through some disorganization, a novice could actually learn something- but that's about it.
Don't waste your money on this audiobook. I'm sure you can find the same content in another that is organized better.
