Gorgeous. Fearless. Dangerous. They're the kind of girls you envy; the kind of girls you want to hate. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Lexi, and Thea have caught everyone's attention - but it’s Gemma who’s attracted theirs. She’s the one they’ve chosen to be part of their group. Gemma seems to have it all - she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door. He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back. Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever....

First off, if you are older than 14, don't buy this book.

I don't think anything could have made this story better. Narrator does her best with truly awful material but her rendition of the dialogue makes me cringe.

Think Twilight, even more badly written, with fish.

In the fall of 1984, high school students Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole fell deeply, irrevocably in love. Though they were from opposite sides of the tracks, their love for one another seemed to defy the realities of life in the small town of Oriental, North Carolina. But as the summer of their senior year came to a close, unforeseen events would tear the young couple apart, setting them on radically divergent paths.

Typical Nicholas Sparks tearjerker, just more so. You can see the "shocking" ending from 100 pages away.

Just plain awful. I wonder if Patterson even read it before he put his name on it.

The tomb of China’s First Emperor, guarded by an underground army of terra-cotta warriors, has remained sealed for more than 2,000 years. Though it’s regarded as one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world, the Chinese government won’t allow anyone to open it. Why? That question is at the heart of a dilemma faced by former Justice Department operative Cotton Malone, whose life is shattered when he receives an anonymous note carrying an unfamiliar Web address.

Lousy book. To be honest, I haven't finished and probably won't.

Great history lesson, really limp plot and improbable premises. Move on, spend your money on something better.

When Katie appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex, a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo. Despite her reservations, Katie begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community..

If you liked the movie "Sleeping with the Enemy", watch it again and skip reading this book. Of course, there is a huge difference between this book and "Sleeping with the Enemy". In this book, the heroine moves toward the ocean rather than away from it.
