Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

You are about to travel to Edgecombe St. Mary, a small village in the English countryside filled with rolling hills, thatched cottages, and a cast of characters both hilariously original and as familiar as the members of your own family. Among them is Major Ernest Pettigrew (retired), the unlikely hero of Helen Simonson's wondrous debut. Wry, courtly, opinionated, and completely endearing, Major Pettigrew is one of the most indelible characters in contemporary fiction.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes..... intresting people and good story line

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maor Pettigrew... even though he is set in his ways and in his so called twilight years... hes shows us we can still learn and have a great life full of love if we don't give up on the human race...but you have to put in the effort and your self on the line..... So instead of getting a lap dog to love and sit in your chair all day watching the telly,,,,look around some one needs you love and affection

Have you listened to any of Peter Altschuler’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

a great reader easy to listen too...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Never too late

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Would you try another book from Diana Gabaldon and/or Davina Porter?

    no...

Has Outlander turned you off from other books in this genre?

    yes

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

the reader did a good job...

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disappointment

    Any additional comments?

the idea of this book was intresting... but in every chapter all situations is solved by violence and sex... and going half dressed... I am no prude but come on... Its ok if your husband beats you if it is for your own good.. and you then have grateful sex with him....
to bad more attention wasn't given to the story line and less to heaving chests and sweaty thighs.... give us a hint on soft porn stories so I am not disappointed again......I like a little romance but every chapter is the same,..... boring....
