This was a tedeous book. Extraneous historical facts are interspersed with the story. These facts do not add to the book, but distract from the story. I used to enjoy Joyce Carol Oates, but will never read one of her books again.
A fascinating story. What makes it even more special is that Chef Samuelsson narrates it. I can't wait to eat at Red Rooster the next time I am in NY.
The last book of the Hunger Games trilogy did not hold my attention as the other two did.
This book is a letdown.
This book was boring and a total waste of time. It did not hold our interest. I don't know why it is rated so highly.
I bought this book because of the reviews. I can't believe the positive reviews after reading this book. The premise is sophomoric. The characters are not well delineated, so it was difficult to follow who was who. new people appear without warning. Do not waste your time with this story.
The story is amazing. I liked the background information about Alaska. The narrator, though, could not have been more boring. His narration was a monotone, which ruined the excitement of the story.
Well written. The suspense is sustained throughout the book. In addition to a good story, the listener gets an idea of what South Africa was like in the 1950's. I can't wait to listen to the second book in the series.
