"Ok"
In my short time listening and reading Matheson, I knew half way through this one that it isn't one of his best. I appreciate the "supernatural" side to the story but it isn't keeping me enthralled enough to yearn for more.
"Nice work"
Both stories are great. The collaboration between father and son was enjoyable and I liked their twist on the original story. This is worth a listen. I enjoyed the narrator in Heart Shaped Box and these stories.
"Great stories, great narrator, average production."
Maybe it is because there were productions of each short story and they were just put together for this collection but I was not impressed by the inconsistencies in production. Sometimes, there are scary, cool music breaks between each story, making it easy to know when one is finished. Other times, the same music will play randomly in the middle of a story. Worse, there is often no breaks in between each story other than the announcement of the title. It made no sense.
The stories themselves are fantastic! Joe Hill is a great writer. The narrator is super good too and I enjoyed him. The rating is for those two reasons (as it should be). The production of this book, however, rates only one star.
"Pretty good."
I am a big fan of the Dead trilogy by the same author and also a big fan of the reader of this book. I liked the stories of the Dead series more than the narrator, for this novel, it is the opposite. Alex isn't as interesting or entertaining character as Michael.
"Michael Rules!"
This novel is the weakest of the series but it is so entertaining still that it still merits three stars. Michael is a great character and is pretty damned funny. Narrator is fantastic!
"More Michael!"
I am so glad I found this series and this narrator. This novel is the second best of the three Dead books.
"Cool!"
I am over half way done with this book. I originally bought it solely for the Irish accent of the narrator (even if he isn't Irish). I love the story and I enjoy the narration. I am looking forward to the next 2 books. I'm glad I purchased this as audio rather than print format. Worth the price!
"Short n' Cool!"
This is the first King audiobook I've listened to that I hadn't previously read. An awesome read that kept me captivated! The reader of the book did an excellent job.
