Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation. Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog!

This book was one that I could not stop listening to. It is full of antics and quite unlikely scenario's, but I found that since my imagination was guided into a world of vampires, antics seemed quite possible, and even probable. I found myself rooting for the main characters hoping they could get ahead. For an escape from my daily grind and a touch of laughter, this book did not dissappoint.

If you're looking for a literary masterpiece, this book might not be just the thing. But if you're looking for just a simple, enjoyable experience, try it!

Generations of werewolves have been secretly residing in a secluded valley a stones throw from Grundy, Alaska. So when a snooping Outsider comes to Grundy to investigate rumors of lycanthropic shenanigans in the area, the valleys pack alpha, Maggie Graham, resolves to chase him away, even if doing so takes a quick bite on the butt. What a pity that researcher Nick Thatcher turns out to be so drool-worthy, and that his kisses make Maggie want to sit up and beg.

    Story

This book started off interesting with decent plot progression, but about halfway, I found I had, for some reason, become immune to the character's plights. I saw that the main character who was supposed to be a leader, was just following along and not really taking action to effect change or direction for her group. I found it was hard to become engaged with such a limp main character, when the premise of the main plot was that she was the one to decisively deal with any threats. My frustration with the lack of energy or purpose devolved into lack of interest in the book. I stuck it out until about 3/4 of the way hoping something would peak my interest and then just gave it up as a waste of time.

    "Fire Study (Unabridged)"
    Overall

    This book was a dissappointment.

Although the first two books in the series were gripping and entertaining throughout, Fire Study became bogged down in hard to follow, mind numbing plot description instead of plot development. Even knowing the characters and the background story from the other books, the plot of Fire Study is a little hard to become invested in.

A lot of the first part of the book is description of a conflict that is difficult to define or grasp. Consequently, determining the investment the main characters have in the conflict is also vague.

I found myself skipping chapters because of boredom with the story and, amazingly, I did not feel as if I had missed anything as I continued on. Eventually, I just skipped to part 2 and found that was where the story picked up.

I am sorry to say that this book is obviously a "filler" book in a series and could not stand well on its own. It appears that this excellent author has rushed her work this time, but I look forward to her next attempt, as she has proven her abilities in the first two books.
