"Alice is ALWAYS enjoyable!"
It's worth listening to! It's quick and enjoyable. Who can't relate to Alice's adventure in Wonderland? The narrator has a lot of different characters to portray and does a pretty good job of doing it.
"COULDN'T STAND THIS BOOK!"
This book had religious sap all over it. Once I was 25% through... I was just cringing and regretting continuing. I finished the whole book and regret it. There was no surprise ending, nothing to make my suffering all worth while. It was a horrible book. The writing wasn't very artistic or poignant. BUT the story is what killed me. I hated it. Literally probably the worst book I've ever "read".
"The Catch:you'll regret NOT experiencing this book"
This novel may be very long and very detailed as far as character and dialogue goes, but that is the power and beauty of this story. I know all the characters so very well at this end of this long, often humorous, sad, boring, exciting, sad, and enjoyable story. I think the author sometimes uses monotony to help illustrate that which his characters are going through. It's a great experience and the narrator did an admirable job of preforming it. One way or another, you should experience this book.
"FANTASTIC and ENGAGING story!!!"
The narrator does a fabulous job of bringing this story to life in my imagination. It was hard to stop listening and when I did stop, I kept thinking about Richard Parker! It was incredibly addictive and a wonderful experience.
"Awesome experience!"
Great story! Engaging, unpredictable yet not unbelievable. The characters are memorable and can easily be related to. The narration cast does a fabulous job for the most part. I flew through this novel... couldn't stop listening.
"Not sure if it is deep & meaningful..."
It kept my attention, but was rather predictable, which was maybe the point. I'm also not sure WHY this story was written... Is it symbolic? Is there some deep and powerful meaning behind the story line/characters/writing style? It was interesting. The narrator did a great job.
"Definitely thought provoking!"
It's very repetitive. But it's a classic, right? It's worth a listen. Sometimes it is very easy to zone out. I'm not sure if this is the writing or the narrator, but honestly, missing a few minutes of this book, doesn't leave you in the dark. There's no story line. It's more like a guide for generals in war. So, this information may very well come in handy next time I play Risk.
"Didn't realize it was in Spanish..."
Since, I'm definitely not fluent in Spanish, I can't fairly rate this novella.
"I put this on to fall asleep; works every time!"
I honestly haven't finished this story EVER. I fell asleep the first time I tried to listen to it, and since then have only used it to help me fall asleep and boy does it work! Great sleep aid and far cheaper and healthier than Tylenol PM! The story may be fantastic, but I've never been engaged enough to listen! :/
"Classic story, well read, & an enjoyable quickie!"
Fitzgerald is an amazing author. And this short story very well illustrates the ideals and stereotypes that go along with age and the aging process.... it's a very interesting story and really makes the reader ponder the issues it brings up. The narrator did a fine job. And it was well worth listening to.
