A human diplomat creates an interstellar incident when he kills an alien diplomat in a most unusual way. To avoid war, Earth's government must find an equally unusual object: A type of sheep ("The Android's Dream"), used in the alien race's coronation ceremony. To find the sheep, the government turns to Harry Creek, ex-cop, war hero and hacker extraordinaire.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would tell any of my friends with a well developed sense of satire and irony that they would love this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Android's Dream?

    "Death by Fart"

    Which scene was your favorite?

The diplomatic incident leading to the search for the blue fleece (really a search for a golden fleece, or fleecing...)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had to know what would happen next, not predictable at all, which I find very enjoyable. Kept me going during many a workout.

    Any additional comments?

Snort alert - don't have liquids in your mouth for the first several chapters, you'll have a clean up.

Would you listen to The Light Fantastic again? Why?

How to describe the plot - if Harry Potter had been,

What other book might you compare The Light Fantastic to and why?

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If you haven't read it, shame on you. If you have and liked it, you'll love this book.

Which character ??? as performed by Nigel Planer ??? was your favorite?

I'm still entranced by the luggage. It follows its owner everywhere, and eats anyone who tries an unauthorized search. We could balance the nation budget with that feature alone; it would eliminate an entire useless goverment agency.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would be worried I would miss something if I weren't concentrating enough.

The Colour of Magic, the first novel in Terry Pratchett's wildly imaginative Discworld series, takes the listener on a remarkable journey. The magical planet of Discworld is supported by four massive elephants who stand on the back of the Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle swimming slowly through the mysterious interstellar gulf. An eccentric expedition sets out to explore the planet, encountering dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and of course "The Edge" of the planet.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed the luggage the most. Having had mine lost by quite a few airlines, luggage that could find one anywhere, and kill people, is a wonderful fantasy.

What does Nigel Planer bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

His English accents are wonderful and really add to the characterizations. Terrible with the American accents, but then so are most English actors (Hugh Laurie being a notable exception).

    Any additional comments?

This story has the flavour of vintage Monty Python or Hitchhiker's Guide zany-ness. Had one of the Twit of the Year contestants appeared, he would have fit right in. Gormless and definatively hapless characters are victimized by an impossible universe and indifferent gods, all for our amusement. If you enjoyed

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when--or if--it will go away.

Vintage Stephen King. The character and plot depth are reminiscent of "The Stand". A real barn-burner (pun intended), I tried to ration my listening time, but just had to know what happened next.
The narrator's mis-pronunciations are a little jarring, (Chin-ook and not Shin-ook for the helicopter, Dumb-a-jen for what is likely DuMagen)but the material more than makes up for it.

To make the journey into The Power of Now you need to leave your analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. Access to the Now is everywhere - in the body, the silence, and the space all around you. These are the keys to enter a state of inner peace.

In 1349, one small town in Germany disappeared and was never resettled. Tom, a contemporary historian, and his theoretical-physicist girlfriend, Sharon, become interested. By all logic, the town should have survived, but it didn't. Why? What was special about Eifelheim that it utterly disappeared more than 600 years ago?
