"Social Satire with an Excellent Story Line"
I would tell any of my friends with a well developed sense of satire and irony that they would love this.
"Death by Fart"
The diplomatic incident leading to the search for the blue fleece (really a search for a golden fleece, or fleecing...)
I had to know what would happen next, not predictable at all, which I find very enjoyable. Kept me going during many a workout.
Snort alert - don't have liquids in your mouth for the first several chapters, you'll have a clean up.
"Harry Potter Meets Hitchhiker's Guide - on Drugs"
How to describe the plot - if Harry Potter had been,
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If you haven't read it, shame on you. If you have and liked it, you'll love this book.
I'm still entranced by the luggage. It follows its owner everywhere, and eats anyone who tries an unauthorized search. We could balance the nation budget with that feature alone; it would eliminate an entire useless goverment agency.
I would be worried I would miss something if I weren't concentrating enough.
""Vintage Monty Python Style Insanity - Great Fun""
I enjoyed the luggage the most. Having had mine lost by quite a few airlines, luggage that could find one anywhere, and kill people, is a wonderful fantasy.
His English accents are wonderful and really add to the characterizations. Terrible with the American accents, but then so are most English actors (Hugh Laurie being a notable exception).
This story has the flavour of vintage Monty Python or Hitchhiker's Guide zany-ness. Had one of the Twit of the Year contestants appeared, he would have fit right in. Gormless and definatively hapless characters are victimized by an impossible universe and indifferent gods, all for our amusement. If you enjoyed
"A Freight Train of a Listen"
Vintage Stephen King. The character and plot depth are reminiscent of "The Stand". A real barn-burner (pun intended), I tried to ration my listening time, but just had to know what happened next.
The narrator's mis-pronunciations are a little jarring, (Chin-ook and not Shin-ook for the helicopter, Dumb-a-jen for what is likely DuMagen)but the material more than makes up for it.
"Clumsy prose"
The writing in this book is clunky and repetetive. The plot is sacrificed to unpronounceable names and elements which do nothing to advance it. Skip this one.
"Tiresome"
The author interrupts a fairly decent plot line with overblown hyperbole and moralizing. Read this one in print instead, you can skip the continuous editorial comments.
"Amazing"
I found this very helpful - I let a lot of 'stuff' go as a result of listening to this. Worth multiple listens and much thought.
"Skip this version - pick another"
The audio quality is very poor, with numerous 'ghosts' and mike popping. I couldn't listen after awhile. There must be a better version.
"Excellent Sci-Fi"
Successfully combines the near future with 1347 (black plague onset) Medieval. Fascinating and compelling.
"Hang on to your Brain"
Fabulous, quick moving suspense. Recommended.
