Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

I don't know if Bones and Cat were brought to life the way Jeaniene imaged but they are awesome characters to me. Hats off to Tavia Gilbert who made Bones alive for me. What a great writer and narrator team. You make listening fun! The story was gritty, funny and sexy and more than what I expected. What a great surprise. You can imagine I was sorely disappointed to find only one available - I am waiting (rather impatiently )for more.

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when you're only a half goddess, you only found out about it recently, and you still don't know what you're doing half the time. And when you've just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarize the booby-trapped office of a vampire mob boss. Yeah, that part sucks. But that's just the tip of the iceberg for Cassandra Palmer, aka the Pythia, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world.

What would have made Tempt the Stars better?

Less is more. I made the mistake of listening to the first five books before this one so I could remember everything, Yikes! Don't do it unless you are a die-hard fan who won't be put off by long, long, long detailed descriptions of ....everything and a main character who wants to be taken seriously and do everything herself and then leaves without pants. Really!? She was so immature at times I was speechless. I found myself thinking just get on with it.

Would you recommend Tempt the Stars to your friends? Why or why not?

Fans have to because they have waited so long for this. I understand once you are a true fan you have to go for it! Enjoy!

Did Allyson Ryan do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I think so - C.Holloway did not know how to pronounce vague or dais or deluge etc. . . so by the end of Book 5 I wanted to pull my hair out. Allyson was a breath of fresh air for me. I am sure die-hards won't agree. I do think narrators should at least listen to how the former performer pronounced names for consistency.

What character would you cut from Tempt the Stars?

I think I am the one that should be cut because it was not a good fit for me. Actually, each character plays an important role in the world Karen has created so I would not cut anyone but I would grow Cassie up. The plus side of her growing up (not in years necessarily but attitude at least) would mean the other characters could interact with more complexity.

    Any additional comments?

This series was good for me because I realized I really do lean more toward a Jane Yellowrock, Dani O'Malley, Mac Lane or Cat Russell type of character.

Revisiting the paranormal realms they've made famous in their wildly popular fiction, New York Times best-selling authors Kim Harrison, Jeaniene Frost, Vicki Pettersson, and Jocelynn Drake—plus New York Times best-selling young-adult author Melissa Marr, with her first adult supernatural thriller—unleash their full arsenal of dark talents, plunging us into the shadows where the supernatural stalk the unsuspecting... and every soul is a target.

This collection probably has important details for readers of these series. I am a Jeaniene Frost fan. There was some back story detail but overall it was not satisfying because of the narrator. He probably reads other types of books with gusto and emotion and the proper accents however not in this case. I would recommend this only if you need the back story or other details from these series.

Nicolai the Vampire was renowned for his virility, but in a twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” had become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina - stripped of his precious timepiece andhis memory. All that remained was a primal need for freedom, revenge - and the only woman who could help him. In her dreams, a wanton vampire called to Jane Parker, drawing her to his dark sexuality and his magical realm. But for a human, all was not a fairy tale in Delfina. Jane was the key to Nicolai’s memory… but exploiting her meant dooming the only mortal he craved.

Gena, Gena, Gena what on earth happened?! Yikes! "Mine" "My woman/man" Really? I could swear you know better than this. The narrator. uggghhh what can I say. She reads the Eugenie Markham Series with Richelle Mead and it is fine. Every male character in this story sounded horrible - how could you listen to the daily takes and think, "Yeah, this lead guy needs to sound just like the ogres and dimwitted throughout the entire book." I know everyone knows better than this including the production staff. I listen only to audiobooks so I am absolutely sure everyone could have done a better job. I speak from the experience of enjoying all of Gena's other stories, other narration by Genvieve and listening to better production from the publisher.

    "Great Narrator - Potential"
    Overall

Great Narrator! This series gets the "p" word in my opinion. The first 3 books in the series show potential but that is all - this series could be great if everyone in them got 100% smarter. The characters are not fully developed and plot lines disappear. jobs fall away, slow witted use of technology is like fingernails on a chalk board. One character is an investigative journalist why doesn't she investigate anything? Especially when chaos irrupts within the group. Tracking devices - realestate holdings not followed up on - lack of recon on locations before destroying them makes my head hurt. And this is a race trying to survive? My guess is not really. Ms. Ward should trust us to be smart enough to follow plots that make more sense and are sophisticated. Does this dig you in deeper sure but hours and hours of missing understandings and lack of dealing with the obvious is brain numbing. Every characters conflict can't be the same. At least if I am going to keep reading - which unfortunately I am not.
I wish I was going to find out what happens to Butch and the other 2 males but I can't go on. This race is not thriving no shock there.
