I checked this out after getting into the first season of True Blood, so I am probably unfairly biased towards the TV series. But the book didn't hold my attention and the narration got on my nerves. Her characterization of the main character was a little too naive for me.
I was looking for a fun romance, but this was just terrible. Granted - maybe I'm just not the right audience for this kind of thing.
I was looking for something fun, sexy and smart. This was not it. Both the writing and the narration made me cringe.
While it wasn't my favorite, I enjoyed the first book enough to download this one. It didn't keep my attention and the narration didn't help entice me to keep listening. As with the first book, the narrator here sounds too naive to be the main character.
I'm not sure who I love more - Diana Gabaldon or Davina Porter.
They are perfectly suited for one another and the product of their collaboration is a treasure.
Voyager was not as enjoyable as Outlander, but I still enjoyed it immensely.
I've read this book a few times and thought it would be nice to listen to in the car. The narrator really ruined it for me.
She sounds too young, and I don't mean that in chronological sense. She lacks Bella's semi-cynical edge. It's like the Disney version of Bella.
I had to stop it after 45 minutes or so. Too bad, because this is a fun book. While I am not too fond of the rest of the books in the series, this first one is a great ride.
