Mindy Kaling has lived many lives: the obedient child of immigrant professionals, a timid chubster afraid of her own bike, a Ben Affleck–impersonating Off-Broadway performer and playwright, and, finally, a comedy writer and actress prone to starting fights with her friends and coworkers with the sentence “Can I just say one last thing about this, and then I swear I’ll shut up about it?”

Would you listen to Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) again? Why?

I can't wait to get to work in the morning and start the book over again. While listening, I felt my thoughts and concerns were heard.

What did you like best about this story?

Her love of comedy. None of my friends and family understand my humor or where it comes from. And it is rare when I find someone who enjoys the same movies I do. In fact, it is so rare that I go years without meeting these people. When it does happen, it gives me enough hope that I come alive.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Her list of top comedic moments that mainly consisted of Will Farrell.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I felt happy, I felt understood.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald’s pseudo- autobiographical first novel. It describes life at Princeton among the glittering, bored, and disillusioned “lost generation” of post World War1 America. Published in 1920, when he was just 23, the novel was an overnight success and propelled Fitzgerald to instant stardom as spokesman of the Jazz Age.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If I could return the book and get it off my phone memory.

What could F. Scott Fitzgerald have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Having a plot would be nice. Putting a conflict in the story would be nice too.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Brian D'eon?

It's not the narrator's fault that the story is bad.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from This Side of Paradise?

I would not have published him at all. The whole first part was pointless and a waist of time.

    Any additional comments?

    Don't get this book.

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Where does American Sniper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It would rank in the top 5 of the books I've listened to so far. I love this genre, and his cowboying through Iraq sounded fairly upbeat by comparison to the other books I've read about soldiers in Iraq at that time.

Have you listened to any of John Pruden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    I like his voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My extreme reaction was the week following me finishing the book. I remember being in my car on the way to work when I heard Chris Kyle took a fellow Iraq/Afghanistan veteran to a gun range and the veteran killed Kyle. I was in shock. I suppose Kyle died doing what he loved which was shooting, but the book made you think of his wife and 2 small children. I am still in shock. Do you think there is a conspiracy? Do you think the veteran was paid to kill Kyle? I have many questions about the his murder.

They were called a generation without heroes. Then they were called upon to be heroes. Within hours of 9/11, America's war on terrorism fell to those like the 23 Marines of the First Recon Battalion, the first generation dispatched into open-ended combat since Vietnam.

What did you love best about Generation Kill?

I have read the book, watched the HBO mini-series, and listened to the audio book. I love this story. The characters, real Marines, come to life in this book. Evan Wright did an outstanding job explaining each person he spent time with. I think that some of the video game references might have out shined the meaning of the book in mainstream media, but these guys felt very real to me.

What other book might you compare Generation Kill to and why?

That is a difficult question to answer because the other books in this genre that I have read were written by the soldiers themselves and did not have the same broad spectrum insight that Wright gave in his book. I totally love the war themed genre though.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Probably, Person's Rip Fuel rants. All of them were funny.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It would have to be the familial bond that happened to theses guys after going through hell together.

    Any additional comments?

If you are going to listen to this at work, please use headphones. I ticked off my boss unknowingly by listening to it in my work room. I did not know that his office was directly under my work space. A lot of F-bombs.

Mindset is one of those rare audio books that can help you make positive changes in your life and at the same time see the world in a new way. A leading expert in motivation and personality psychology, Carol Dweck has discovered in more than 20 years of research that our mindset is not a minor personality quirk: it creates our whole mental world. It explains how we become optimistic or pessimistic. It shapes our goals, our attitude toward work, and ultimately predicts whether or not we will fulfull our potential.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I learned about myself. It reminded me of some of the negative things that I've done or said and showed me how others might interpret my actions. Plus, it is a model for positive thinking. I like that it was at least realistic enough to explain that we can't win all the time. But if you practice you will become better.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Marguerite Gavin?

Sure. She had a pleasant voice.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not Applicable. However, if they had turned it into a comedy or made it an adventure of how to act and react then, yeah, I'd Redbox it.

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

What did you like best about A Game of Thrones? What did you like least?

I like that the author took on a huge amount of time to create this book. What I disliked is that the reader was hard to follow and I wasn't a fan of it at all. My friend goes on and on about this book and I used my credit on this thinking that I would have some in site into my friend's discussions. I learned that I am not a fan of the genre.

Has A Game of Thrones turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes, kind of. But I don't think it is the book's fault. I didn't know I wasn't a fan of the genre before I bought the book because I have never picked up a book of this genre before..

What aspect of Roy Dotrice’s performance would you have changed?

I would change the clarity in his voice. If he just read the book instead of using voices for the characters. It was really annoying.
