It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive. Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them - not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her. His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, for those who like the supernatural.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the characters developed from Blue's poor but psychic family to the collection of Raven boys.

Have you listened to any of Will Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I can remember, but, he was very enjoyable; I liked the tone and accent of his voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It help my attention to the point where I HAD to find out what happened next.

    Any additional comments?

The only thing, in my opinion that kept this from being a five star was that there was just a little too much jumping around; not enough to spoil the enjoyment of the book, but, enough where I had to re-listen to a few areas to make sense of it. Still all in all a very good, enjoyable book.

Indian Hill is about an ordinary boy who grows up in relatively normal times but who finds himself thrust into an extraordinary position. Growing up in suburban Boston, Michael enjoys the trials and tribulations that all adolescents go through, from the seemingly tyrannical mother, to girl problems, to run-ins with the law. From there he escapes to college out in Colorado with his best friend, Paul, where they begin to forge new relationships with those around them. It is one girl in particular that has caught Michael's eye, and he alternately pines for her and laments ever meeting her.

In the height of the Cold War, in the aftermath of Hiroshima, in the fear of nuclear annihilation, in the heart of West Virginia the surviving salvation was born. A huge bunker designed to house 1,000 people, most of which were government officials, was constructed and code named "Project Greek Island" for secrecy. In 1995, the secret was exposed and the United States Government ultimately revealed this buried treasure. It was nestled in the hills of West Virginia 750 feet beneath a plush resort. A few years later, the resort made the bunker a tourist attraction and offered tours for the curious.

Where does Greek Island rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I rated it as I did not because it's close to one of the best audio books I've listened to, but, it's not one where I could find any major flaws. I moved fast, explanations where in place, if anything even remotely bad can be said it's that at times things just "fell in to place" a little too conveinently.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Greek Island?

Don't have any one most memorablel moment...

Have you listened to any of David Bolden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but, he was a good narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions. I did laugh quite a bit, and, got a little teary eyed once or twice, but all in all it was a pretty even tempered book.

    Any additional comments?

I liked the way folks just seemed to be at the right place at the right time when the story began. This may not have been my most favorite audio book, but, it was very enjoyable and things ended nicely; well, kind of... it was worth the credit as far as I'm concerned.

One Sunday in the spring of 1988, a woman living on a reservation in North Dakota is attacked. The details of the crime are slow to surface as Geraldine Coutts is traumatized and reluctant to relive or reveal what happened, either to the police or to her husband, Bazil, and 13-year-old son, Joe. In one day, Joe's life is irrevocably transformed. He tries to heal his mother, but she will not leave her bed and slips into an abyss of solitude. Increasingly alone, Joe finds himself thrust prematurely into an adult world for which he is ill prepared.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It combines a coming of age mystery filled with some really sad moments, some happy times, humor, and the struggle of a family to come to terms with rape and the laws that tied their hands. It also gave a glimpse in to the lives of Native Americans and how they have been discriminated over the years. The characters were so varied and different and they were all developed and weaved through the story. This was not one of those books where you guessed what happened next at every turn, and that's a good thing. The story was both fresh and poignant and the narrator made it even better.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Round House?

The birthday gift from Sonja to Mushim (and I listened to the audio version so I doubt that I've spelled his name correctly); I really didn't see that one coming, and even more memorable is how Sonja spilled her story out to Joe in a way that had a very strong impact on both of them.

What about Gary Farmer’s performance did you like?

I feel his voice and accent were perfect for this book. I feel this Native American narrator did a wonderful job, absolutely wonderful.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved how the whole community stuck together, taking care of one another.

    Any additional comments?

I liked how there were several little stories that for the most part all came together at the end. It starts out being the story of Joe's family and the terrible tragedy that occurs in their lives and how they react to it, but continues on to pull in the stories of those in their community, their family and friends. The end was sad and I think the book could have ended sooner without adding that part, but, in a way it continued how the four friends stuck together through many life changing events; they were always there for one another. This was a good use of a credit. The story brought to the reader Native American culture, and, how they are treated unfairly by discrimination and laws but keep strong to their heritage. I liked the side stories that brought out culture and history.

Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

Mariam of course. I was interesting to follow her life from a young girl living in poverty through her troubled life filled with sacrifices.

Not that I can remember, but, her narration was, in my opionion, one of the best.

The ultimate sacrifice that one wife gave to the other.

    Good naration

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Any additional comments?

Most of the book went pretty fast, some parts just dragged on and on and on and all the skipping around got a little confusing at times. I had to go back and listen again...all in all it was worth the credit, but, if I had the printed version I probably would not have finished it, at least not for a long time.

Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria. In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.

Would you ever listen to anything by Dean Koontz again?

    Of course.

What does David Aaron Baker bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Narration was good. Young sounding voice made it easy to believe he was Odd.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and a sense of .... when will this end!

    Any additional comments?

Well, I'm glad I purchased it, I had to find out for myself, but, I felt a lot of disappointment and a sense that it was not the standard I'm used to finding in a Dean Koontz novel. Still, I'm glad I found out for myself, I bought it before any reviews had been written just because I'm such a big fan, but, had I waited for the reviews I prob. would not have purchased it quite yet or even not at all. I hate to waste time and money and this was close to doing both. Not so bad as to call it a total waste of time, but, not the quality I expected, and I'm sorry for that. I would still purchase future novels by Mr. Koontz hoping that old magic will return.
