Middle aged female who loves books of all kinds as long as the story is engaging. Doesn't review all books she reads, but does read all reviews of books she reads. Haha.

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III may be the son of the brave leader of the mighty Viking tribe the Hairy Hooligans, but he certainly doesn’t feel very heroic. When Hiccup and the other boys his age are challenged to pick baby dragons from the dragon nursery, Hiccup actually manages to catch a small one. But now how will he train his stubborn new pet?

Although this is a book probably written for males 8 yrs to 12 years old as it is filled with adventure, dragons, vikings, buggers, poop, and other interesting items sure to keep the young males happy and engaged, I found it to be very entertaining and fun filled! It is not a copy of the movie which has the same name, which was a bit of a shock, but it is similar. It was good enough that I also have purchased other books in the series. The narrator, G, Doyle is fantastic.

Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling debut novel, Everything Is Illuminated, wowed critics on its way to winning several literary prizes, including Book of the Year honors from the Los Angeles Times. It has been published in 24 countries and will soon be a major motion picture. Foer's talent continues to shine in this sometimes hilarious and always heartfelt follow-up.

This is a remarkable book! Others will tell of the story line, but I will tell of my longing for time immersed in the story listening and wanting for more time to remain there. There is such power in this story, a way into the heart of love, lost, and how hard it is to be a parent. I just couldnt believe how much more powerful it was than the movie.

Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: "You got the wrong guy". Then he says: "Get Reacher for me". And sure enough, from the world he lives in - no phone, no address, no commitments - ex-military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. In Lee Child's astonishing thriller, Reacher's arrival will change everything - about a case that isn't what it seems, about lives tangled in baffling ways, about a killer who missed one shot - and by doing so gives Jack Reacher one shot at the truth.

All in all this was an entertaining book. I am glad that I read it after watching the movie with Tom Cruise as Reacher as I would have ruined the movie for my husband by constantly pointing out the differences between the two! The only flaw with the book is the constant saying of "and Reacher said nothing". It must have been in there 100 times! Not kidding. Gave it four stars for the entertainment value.

For centuries, the woods have been a pivotal part of the wonder and danger of fairy tales, for once you enter anything can happen. Elves, druids, fairies - who knows what you will find once you dare step into the forest?

And now, New York Times best-selling author Kim Harrison ventures into these mysterious, hidden lands of magic and mystery in her first short-story collection. Into the Woods brings together an enchanting mix of brand-new, never-before-published stories and tales from Harrison's beloved, best-selling Hollows series.

First, read the series before this book! It is really not a stand alone book. This adds to the series filling in the gaps between stories and expanding on some of the stories you know. Some of the shorts in this book are really not so short at all but are novellas. I really enjoyed some of them and some were just meh, but Kim Harrison is a great writer and she delivers well with this collection.

I normally steer away from war books but the reviews on this one was very good so I gave it a chance. Even dealing with the subject matter this is a very good listen. The characters were interesting and the pace very consistent. It is not a gory book, details of the battles and what happens in them are not written to shock, but to inform.

First the narrator, while taking a bit to get use to, was absolutely fantastic. She nailed the characters, the pace was spot on, and she was able to keep you in step with the emotionally changes in the book. The story itself was surprisingly unexpected. Great story, I began to love the people involved and hope it came out all right for everyone. Highly recommend this gem of a story.

Raylene Pendle (AKA Cheshire Red), a vampire and world-renowned thief, doesn’t usually hang with her own kind. She’s too busy stealing priceless art and rare jewels. But when the infuriatingly charming Ian Stott asks for help, Raylene finds him impossible to resist - even though Ian doesn’t want precious artifacts. He wants her to retrieve missing government files: documents that deal with the secret biological experiments that left Ian blind. What Raylene doesn’t bargain for is a case that takes her from the frozen outskirts of Minneapolis to the mean streets of Atlanta.

Right now vampire books are popular, so a lot of authors go where the money is, as is evident in this book by Cherie Priest. I have loved her steam punk books and was a little disappointed with this book tho it was better than some I have listen to in this category. Probably won't read more in the series, but it wasn't a total waste of money.

I'M sure this book was a good one. I purchased it because of the reviews it got on amazon, not reading the reviews on Audible. I sure wish I had read the reviews! The narrator should be shot! Wow, I can't describe how painful it was listening to her awful dictation and unbelievable pacing and wrong inflection. My 6 yr old grandson does a better job reading out loud. Please take my advice and stick to the written copy of this book to save your sanity.
