Male narration of this novel is fitting since it is told from the leading man's perspective and the lead female has three boys. The male characters are written to be stronger, more fully developed characters than the females in this novel. I see several negative comments about the narration, but I don't think they are considering how a male narrator is enriching this audiobook. I wouldn't have wanted to have heard this read by a female narrator because it would have lost something in the translation.
All of the reviewers can agree that this will be a highly anticipated series. I look forward to the next installment.
This is a good story. The female characters are flawed but likable and have a realistic slant on life. You feel like you could have known these characters and find yourself routing for them to have their happy ending. The author chooses to narrate her own work, which is a mistake, as she does not have the voice for it.
I enjoyed this read. This is the second book by Molly Harper that I've read and really enjoyed. She brings a fresh air to the paranormal romance that makes me it different and fun. The narrator has a great way of bringing the characters to life. They make a great pair.
Most of the characters are well developed and likable. The antagonists are just beginning to become familiar, but it's clear they will play a larger role in the sequel. The romance is lovely, and I like the way the friends and family rally around the main characters to give their support. There are some charming surprises and great science and literary references.
I love it. She's gutsy and real. I wish I could have pulled a stunt like hers before my divorce. If you've ever had a cheating ex that you wanted to string up, then you're going to love this.
Picking up where the first book left off, this second installment in the series is a good listen with a great cliffhanger of an ending.
This is a great teen fiction, and I highly recommend it. I plan on recommending it to all my students, and I'm looking forward to the next installment in the series.
Sometimes you feel you are reading the same plot over and over. This book is an unexpected delight and that is why I enjoyed it so much.
This is a fun book. It's got some excitement, some twists and turns, and of course the ahh moment. The leader of the crew of the Oregon, Juan Cabrillo, is a real manly man who still knows how to treat a lady and draw respect and loyalty from those around him. His keen intelligence and leadership binds the crew together and makes the completion of the mission possible.
I enjoy Nora Roberts's novels especially the Boonesboro Inn series, but this title was disappointing. It was just too predictable. You knew everything that was going to happen long before it actually did. A lack of surprises makes for a boring book.
Sookie and her friends will draw you into their world and leave you wanting more. This is a fun read. A piece of advice, separate the novel series from the HBO show. HBO has given the book a Hollywood make-over, and what they haven't changed, they've left out all together. I'll take the books over the HBO series any day. It's just that much better.
