There's all these vivid scenes about Otherseeing, but they're not really essential to the story. The story would be basically unchanged if they were just wise magicians, for example. Having the Otherseeing be the driver of the story rather than the weird relationship between the two main characters would have lifted the book out of the slice-of-life rut it's in now.
I kept expecting something exciting to happen, from about an 1/8th of the way in, through to the end.
This is the first of Claire Christie's performances I've listened to.
