Thousands of autonomous computer programs, or daemons, make our networked world possible, running constantly in the background of our lives, trafficking e-mail, transferring money, and monitoring power grids. For the most part, daemons are benign, but the same can't always be said for the people who design them.

Charles Atkinson says: "Really Fast Paced Sci Fi!"
    "...more and more improbable"
    Overall

The book started well and it's premise seemed possible, at first. It then became more and more improbable and finally just plain impossible. Worst of all, the ending provided no closure and seemed like the author simply ran out of time and patience for this painfully long and winding story. I had high hopes, but it was one of the most disappointing books in a long time.

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch - hero, maverick, nighthawk - the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal. The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell.

Daniel Mcafee says: "What a Terrific Book"
    "Kept me guessing..."
    Overall

I dislike predictable stories where I can guess the ending long before I get there. This mystery kept me guessing. The narrator was very good. He changed his voice just enough to help identify the characters.
One of the best books I had listend to in a long time. I couldn't put it down.
