They call me the Spider. I'm the most feared assassin in the South -- when I'm not busy at the Pork Pit cooking up the best barbecue in Ashland. As a Stone elemental, I can hear everything from the whispers of the gravel beneath my feet to the vibrations of the soaring Appalachian Mountains above me. My Ice magic also comes in handy for making the occasional knife. But I don't use my powers on the job unless I absolutely have to. Call it professional pride.

Good book and awesome narrator--a combination that kept me too entertained to put the ipod down. It's absolutely worth the circles under my eyes.

The FBI has stepped in, but when it looks like they are using her for bait, General McClellan enlists the aid of the only man he knows he can trust: former Navy SEAL Ike Calhoun. Embracing solitude in his remote cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ike thought he'd left the War on Terror behind. Now he's stuck shielding a blue-eyed beauty from ambitious federal agents and crazed jihadists.

I love Marliss Melton, I have all her books and I was so happy to see her on Audible. But....the narrator. I listened to the sample, thinking, hoping wishing the overly dramatized teen-age sounding voice would it improve, but no. I'm so disappointed. I'm not familiar with this narrator, I can barely understand her, and I really really wanted more from her. Maybe the next book will have a better narrator.

What did you love best about Poison Study?

The strength of the main character Yelena and and how hard she works to become a strong woman.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, one could not tell what nasty thing would befall our heroine next.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When Marge tried to bully Yelena again and she bent her arm and put her face first against the wall! Sweet!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Yelena asks Varek what he wants from her, she is so vulnerable-and Varek says, everything!

    Any additional comments?

Gabra Zackman has me for spoiled for other narrators. I feel that few can compete with her ability to bring the story to life with her voice.

    P. J. and Cole were sharpshooting rivals on the same KGI team and enjoyed a spirited, uncomplicated camaraderie. Until the night they gave in to their desires and suddenly took their relationship one step further. In the aftermath of their one-night stand, they’re called out on a mission that goes terribly wrong, and P. J. walks away from KGI, resolved not to drag her teammates into the murky shadows she’s poised to delve into. Six months later, Cole hasn’t given up his search for P. J., and he’s determined to bring her back home where she belongs.

Would you listen to Shades of Gray again? Why?

Yes, it's on my keeper shelf along with the rest of the KGI series. The characters are deep and engaging, strong and likeable.

What did you like best about this story?

The way PJ responded to the trauma she experienced. In typical PJ fashion she kicked major A$$! She didn't break, she did what most women wish they could do and got more than even. I'm a great PJ fan!

What about Adam Paul’s performance did you like?

He isn't Harry Berkeley, and at first I was put off by that. Harry even makes the women sound believable. Not so much Adam. But he didn't ruin the book, he did very well, though not as masculine sounding as Harry.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh yeah! I cried at the pain caused by the criminals to everyone who came into contact with them and laughed at the byplay between PJ and Cole and the rest of the Kelly clan.

    Any additional comments?

Yes, listen to this book, but listen to them in order so you can get the whole story, then fall in love with these tough tender guys and strong loving women just like I did! Start with Ethan and Rachel's' story-The Darkest Hour- and continue until you reach the end, then start again!

The vampires of Asheville, North Carolina, want to establish their own clan, but since they owe loyalty to the Master Vampire of New Orleans, they must work out the terms with him. To come up with an equitable solution, he sends an envoy with the best bodyguard blood money can buy: skinwalker Jane Yellowrock. But when a group of local campers are attacked by something fanged, Jane goes from escort to investigator. Is it a rogue-vampire, shapechanger, or witch? Or something else magical?

If you could sum up Raven Cursed in three words, what would they be?

I just finished the series of Jane Yellowrock and in three words I would say---addictive, a keeper, and more!

Who was your favorite character and why?

George Dumas, because he is kind, dependable, resourceful and even Jane can't ruffle his feathers. All that beside being really good to look at..

What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?

Khristine involves me in the story, she does not simply read the lines, she becomes the characters and she does it very well. She really helps you to visualize the action.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Jane's vulnerability when Beast, her inner cat disappears and the loss throws her for a loop. She realizes how much she depends on Beast, but can't find her, doesn't know if she will be back. Jane doesn't usually do vulnerable, just brash, sarcastic and snarky, so this was a new experience for her.

    Any additional comments?

Read the book or listen to it, or both, like me. You won't regret the credit, and you'll be waiting for the next book this fall.

Having narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’ voodoo queen just keeps on giving - leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit. Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive.

Jeaniene Frosts writing is excellent and entertaining, and that in itself would be reward enough to read and really enjoy her books. But having Tavia Gilbert not just narrate, but bring the books to a howling life is like winning the lottery!

I wonder if Tavia will rescue me from the people with white jackets that fasten in the back when they find me screaming with laughter at the most inappropriate times!!

The characters are sympathetic but tough, and you just have to know what they'll do next!

I love this book and I am a fan of the narrator, but Bone's voice causes me to cringe in horror!
I picture an evil clown when she does his voice, and it just ruins the story for me. Bones is supposed to be masculine and in control, but this voice just sounds like a nasty troll!

I enjoyed this whole series by Ms.Briggs, starting with Moon Called, and I can only hope she's not done yet! I hated to see the end of the book come, and wait with baited breath for the next story. I hope to see Mercy and Adam figure prominently in future works, along with Anna and Charles. This book has twist and turns, mystery and a little romance thank goodness. Ms. Briggs videos an YouTube are an added bonus.

    "Interesting!"
    Overall

If you read Lily Bard, start at the beginning with Shakespeare's Landlord. This is book 5, the end of the series, and I really hate to see it end. Lily is an unusual woman and reading about her life in Shakespeare is well worth the credit. Lily is intelligent and self-sufficient (that black belt helps). This book did not disappoint, and the counselor and her husband-humm-- I don't know...(no spoilers coming atcha). Very entertaining, from beginning to end. The narrator is also excellent, and listening to her voice reading the story was a combination to engage and delight.
