This series was recommended to me after I finished the last Game of Thrones offering. This is a good first book of a series. The character development is well paced and keeps you interested. Full of unpredictable moments. Looking forward to book two.

Anyone who finds the inner workings of the mind of interest will enjoy this book. It sees mental illness from a perspective not often contemplated. It demonstrates that, for good or bad, we owe much of our history to the mental illness of various leaders.

There have been so many reviews on this book since it was released so long ago, there is nothing new that I could add, other than every man, woman and child in a free society owes it to themselves to read (or listen to) this book. Its message has never been more relevant than it is right now!

When I first started listening to audio books, all I cared about, narration-wise, was that the narrator speak clearly. Boy, did I underestimate the value of a good narrator, and Scott Brick is the BEST. When choosing between books to purchase, I often find that being read by Scott is the thing that will break the tie in my mind. I wish I had Scott around to narrate my own life, I think he could even make it sound interesting! Is there a Scott Brick Fan Club?

As someone who remembers the murders and the circus that followed, I was not sure that I would be able to sit through such a lengthy rendition of the story. When I saw that Scott Brick was the narrator, I knew it would be a breeze. His style and pace are brilliant. Even when I listen at double-speed on my iPhone, I can grasp every syllable, and in this book, every syllable is relevant.

Written during the time-period in which the crimes took place there is not a lot of time wasted setting up the ambiance of the time, which was quite unique. I think that this still comes across thirty-odd years later.

Never a fan of Vincent Bugliosi, finding him arrogant in most interviews I have seen, I have now learned to appreciate how much work and skill went into getting convictions in an impossible case. This is especially impressive when you realize the way the Tate investigators botched the case from the start.

The writers weave each thread into a tapestry that captures this dreadful part of history. I am so glad Audible made the unabridged version available.

Once again, Frank Delaney has demonstrated that time travel IS possible. Delaney's reading of his own work transports the listener to Ireland at one of the most turbulent times in its resent past. Delaney is, without a doubt, the premier storyteller of our time, or should I say, Seanachai? Love this guy!

After over 200 titles from Audible this is still my favorite, and the only book I have listened to twice. Frank Delaney's charm and grace as both writer and narrator makes every inflection a true joy. I have gotten every one of his books that have shown up here and has been pleased with each one. And that includes the one about the shipwreck that I thought I'd be bored to death with!

Love this guy's work!

Major disappointment. Total waste of time. Wish someone had warned me before I wasted one of my credits.

Although much of the information is valid, it is all delivered through scripture and religious dogma. For those of us whose main goal in life is to be ???good Christians??? this book is a little hard to get through. Bottom line: Highly ???spiritual??? Christians are good. All others, including those claiming to be ???religious??? Christians are bad.

Extremely well written and narrated, this is a detailed account of TR during his presidential years only. None of the more interesting formative years. Look elsewhere for a complete biography.

How did this ever become a classic? Maybe an abridged version would be tolerable but not this one.
