Broken, smashed, and stomped in the mud. That's how Charlotte Bell's heart ended up the last time she let her emotions heat up on a nanny assignment. So taking a new position in frigid Iceland, working for Ambassador Edgar Rawlings, might be just what Charlotte needs in order to heal up and chill out. This time, she's determined to be intrepid and courageous. She's even read all 56 original Nancy Drew books in preparation.

Nancy says: "can I give it zero stars?"
    "Worst book ever"

I have never read anything so insipid in my life. I kept listening just to see how bad it could get and boy...did it ever. Just awful.

The thrilling, internationally bestselling novel about a haute couture seamstress who becomes an undercover spy for the British Secret Service during World War II. #1 bestseller in Spain with more than 1.5 million copies sold, The Time In Between has taken readers by storm with its unforgettable tale of adventure, tragedy, love, and war. Readers will fall in love with MarÍa DueÑas’s dazzlingly inspiring heroine, Sira Quiroga.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I am enjoying the story so far but what is with all the lisping in Spanish? Castilian Spanish does not use the "th" every time there is an S somewhere in the word. I could disregard that except that the narrator is so terrible. I keep listening because the story and locales are interesting but who produced this? Do they not hear how badly read this is? And to think I have another 17 hours to spend with this toneless voice....

  • I Love You More Than You Know: Essays

In his latest collection, I Love You More Than You Know, Ames proves once again his immense talent for turning his own adventures, neuroses, joys, heartaches, and insights into profound and hilarious tales. Alive with love and tenderness for his son, his parents, his great-aunt, and even strangers in bars late at night, in I Love You More Than You Know Ames looks beneath the surface of our world to find the beauty in the perverse, the sweetness in loneliness, and the humor in pain.

From the publisher's summary: "Jonathan Ames has drawn comparisons across the literary spectrum, from David Sedaris to F. Scott Fitzgerald to Woody Allen to P.G. Wodehouse, and his books, as well as his abilities as a performer, have made him a favorite on The Late Show with David Letterman".
What a con job. I have never read anything in Fitzgerald, Wodehouse or Allen about detailed bowel movements and smells or wieners. And as for his "performance"...the author gives no life to his characters...there is no inflection in his reading. It's awful to listen to him. After a 1/2 hour of listening to this grossness, I deleted it from my ipod.
