Audiobook listener because it leaves my hands free to fold clothes, clean and cook for my dear family of 6.

  • Rescue Me

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Rachel Gibson
    • Narrated By Kathleen Early
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

She's 33, unmarried, and stuffed into a Bubble-Yum-pink bridesmaid dress. And the whole town wants to fix her up with anyone with a dental plan.... Who's going to rescue Sadie Hollowell now? Everyone in Lovett, Texas, knows Sadie has always been a "notional" kind of gal. She got a notion to leave town ASAP and never visit her daddy (bless his heart) again. Now she's back and got the notion to invite a good-looking, hard-muscled, total stranger to her cousin's wedding.

Candy Lyons says: "Rescue Me Rocks"

  • Someone Else's Love Story: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Joshilyn Jackson
    • Narrated By Joshilyn Jackson

Someone Else's Love Story is beloved and highly acclaimed New York Times best-selling author Joshilyn Jackson's funny, charming, and poignant novel about science and miracles, secrets and truths, faith and forgiveness; about falling in love, and learning that things aren't always what they seem - or what we hope they will be.

    ~Beloved~ says: "perfectly delightful"
    "Gloriously graceful, hilarious, heartbreaking"
    Any additional comments?

Joshilyn Jackson outdoes herself with Someone Else's Love Story. I stumbled upon Ms. Jackson's novels last year and she quickly became one of my favorite authors with her intelligent, funny, beautifully created and very human characters. In her latest novel, she builds a story surrounding a young single mother with a brilliant child who develops an attachment to a man who helps her during a convenience store hold-up. Ms. Jackson is a writer who brilliantly brings to life the unique and fully-realized voices of her characters. As a reader, having no idea how this tale could end without heartbreak for the characters I had come to love, she unveils the story with such tenderness and humor that I was at one point hopelessly longing for the resolution she so masterfully provides.

  • The Best Man

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Kristan Higgins
    • Narrated By Amy Rubinate
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she's ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family's vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there's some great scenery there.... Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief - and best friend of her former fiancé. There's a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it's not just those deep green eyes.

Elizabeth says: "Authentic - Funny - Vulnerable"
"Funny, flawed characters and great, dry dialogue."
If you could sum up The Best Man in three words, what would they be?

    Funny, Smart, Complex

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Best Man?

One of the most memorable moments of The Best Man is when the groom comes out to the bride while at the alter, at the urging of the best man.

What about Amy Rubinate’s performance did you like?

Amy Rubinate does a great job in differentiating characters and the voice of the male love interest is particularly engaging and sexy.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh out loud several times. Kristan Higgins does a great job of writing internal monologue and revealing her characters vulnerabilities.

    Any additional comments?

Kristan Higgins writes funny multidimensional characters and sharp, hilarious dialogue. If you are a romance fan who likes that kind of thing, you can't go wrong with KH. This particular book had many passages that made me laugh out loud. The edginess of the relationships gives a lovely realism to the story while keeping a great resolution that comes about as the result of psychological healing. KH is one of my must-read authors.
