At once naturalistic epic, captivity narrative, road novel, and transcendental gospel, Steinbeck’s, The Grapes of Wrath is perhaps the most American of American classics. Although it follows the movement of thousands of men and women and the transformation of an entire nation during the Dust Bowl migration of the 1930s, The Grapes of Wrath is also the story of one Oklahoma farm family, the Joads, who are forced to travel west to the promised land of California.

This book is absolutely timeless and will always will remain one of the great pieces of literature. Focusing on a family towards the end of the Great Depression you really get a feel but yet will never truly understand what life was like. We complain about the "Great Recession" and such now but it's nothing like this. Recommend everyone listen to this story and be thankful capitalism has evolved past this at least in our country.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

I like seeing good reviews on books before purchasing them. This one is an international best seller with excellent reviews, and deservedly so. Excellent, intriguing series that won't disappoint. It's horrific at times, mysterious, and has a level of humor at times. Excellent narration. Can't reccomend enough.

Barbara Demick's Nothing to Envy follows the lives of six North Koreans over fifteen years - a chaotic period that saw the death of Kim Il-sung and the unchallenged rise to power of his son, Kim Jong-il, and the devastation of a far-ranging famine that killed one-fifth of the population. Taking us into a landscape never before seen, Demick brings to life what it means to be an average Korean citizen, living under the most repressive totalitarian regime today.

This is a very good book especially for those that don't know really anything about North Korea (that's me). All I really knew is it's an extremely repressed regime and they threaten to develop nuclear weapons. This book brings you all the way down to civilian life in North Korea in vivid detail. Very good, recommend to anyone.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Dubbed “the American Tolkien” by Time magazine, A Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin is a giant in the field of fantasy literature and one of the most exciting storytellers of our time. Now he delivers a rare treat for listeners: a free story, “With Morning Comes Mistfall”, from his compendium of shorter works. Collected into three stunning volumes, his Dreamsongs collection offers fascinating insight into his journey from young writer to award-winning master.
