just an amazing tale of a differnt sort of life. i love to see how other people live and this filled that need and SOOOOO much more! the author has you from page one.
there are so many, the whole book is wonderful! i was anxious to find out WHY it was titled "the glass castle."
though she wasn't the best i've ever heard, i enjoyed that the voice i was hearing was the same person that lived the tale. she grew on me.
though the parents were not always the best to their kids, i felt jeannette still allowed for the listener to feel somewhat connected to them. i just enjoyed this story so much, i couldn't wait to find out how things ended up for them all!
LISTEN TO IT!!
Very good book, even if you did not listen/read The Shinning. I have found myself recommending this book several times. So it must be a good one...right?
Not sure that it lives up to all the hype, but it is a good book. Narration is good and story is sad, yet intriguingly not too sad.
No actual content in this book. Honestly I did not get through the first few chapters. I couldn't even make it to a juicy part.
Such a great life story also filled with actual historical events. Alysia's story has you from the beginning. I fell in love with her writing and narration. LOVE.
The TV show is so much better! If you are going to listen to the book just don't watch the show first. Then it will probably be ok.
I would, only because her other books were so much better. I waited for her to release a new book. I was pretty bummed. This one did not live up to the expectations she had set for herself. The 'magic' wasn't the same.
I'm not sure. This was the first one of her books (I've read all of her others) that I listened to. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the 'magic' being different? But I rarely read books anymore and I LOVE Sarah Addison-Allen so I'm sure I will listen to her next book!
Not my favorite reader. But tolerable.
I would only because her other books are great and I think this plays an important role.
No, only because I'm not a re-reader. I usually only read books once. But it was a great listen. It could have been longer with more details in many areas...especially their relationship. At the end she touches on them having a child. I would love to hear more about raising a child on a farm.
I enjoyed hearing of how the farm was started from scratch and how much hard work and devotion they put into it. So much so that I bought a share in a local organic farm for the summer!
Her performace was fine but I always prefer when the author reads in a book such as this.
This was very different book. I enjoyed that it was a true story and that there was astory within a story. After I downloaded it a friend told me that her highschool student had to read it in their science classes. That made a little nervouse, but it was just enough science and just enough story. Loved it.
Jodi Picoult books have been suggested to me many times by friends. I have always looked at them and passed them by, none of the story lines grabbed me. But I decided to purchase this anyway. It's written well, it's just not my kind of story. I like an up beat book that can take you away from the troubles of the world. This is hitting too close to home with the recent Colorado shootings. I just quit listening and I'm not sure that I will listen to another Picoult book in the future.
And I really dislike this reader. Second book I've listened to from her...DISLIKE, big time!
